It was called as illegal touching. While a bad call, the reason for the late flag was that it wouldn’t be illegal touching if he didn’t touch the ball. Had to wait for him to touch it I guess

Either way it’s a penalty as soon as he goes down field. He should have thrown the flag once he went more than 2 yards down field and then the penalty is “upgraded” to illegal touching once he touches the ball which includes a loss of down. The flag was thrown incredibly late and is an awful call.

This will be this crews last game for the year.

The problem is an extra loss in the regular season is 100x worse than a loss in the SEC champ game. Uga and Texas will still make the playoffs after that game… had Uga lost to us they’re likely booted from the playoffs
