Mushrooms were cool but the gas bubble, followed by stomach issues from mushrooms kept me from fully enjoying psilocybin....though laughing for several hours straight was fun at times. I just more loved LSD while being outdoors, in a rave/club setting where alcohol was not served (drunk people are terrible when tripping) or by myself on my own little adventure. I also really enjoyed playing basketball and swimming on it.....it was neat to see how much my basketball skills improved, speed/strength/jumping were enhanced and I could swim faster and longer. It was just hard to get tripping partners to want to do physical activities instead of just smoking pot and playing video games and laughing. I was not one to laugh constantly on LSD as it increased my intensity....sex was amazing, though!
I also had a buddy who would order from online chemists around 2001 so I got to experiment with DiPT, 2CB7, DXM and others. Some were intense but processed out of the body quickly, some were milder and longer lasting, some visual, some strictly auditory, etc.
The craziest I ever tried of those was AMT (Alpha Methyl Triptamine) and was insanely intense but also lasted around 72 total hours. First 4-6 hours was similar to the start of an LSD trip where you have that anticipatory "enhanced" mental feeling, ramped up significantly around the 6 hour mark to intense visual, auditory and mental hallucinations with high levels of energy. That lasted anywhere from 24-40ish hours depending on dosage amount and then had another 12-20 hours of weaker hallucinations with much lower energy levels due to lack of sleep, food, etc. The peak visual and auditory hallucinations were stronger than LSD in that they were less fractals/patterns and were moreso creations directly out of your subconscious of things that couldn't and/or shouldn't exist.
It was an amazing experience but was rough to recover from. I only did it a handful of times because of the strength and because I didn't get the sense of enlightenment and oneness with the earth and universe or a better understanding of myself and my place in time and space. I noticed that none of the chemicals that had methyl bonds really gave those feelings and made me feel....dirty I guess is the best description.
Anyway, sorry for the long posts but you seem to have similar views on a subject I rarely get a chance to discuss because most people are either not knowledgeable about or are very judgemental about. Also, my favorite music when younger and mostly still today were Floyd, Emerson/Lake/Palmer, Jethro Tull, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Tangerine Dream, etc.
I love your avatar of Syd Barrett. His style was almost like punk mixed with acid rock and he was extremely talented. I love the early Floyd songs off Ummagumma like "Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun". His solo album, The Madcap Laughs, was a little too far out there for me but the guy was a musical genius and super talented. His descent into madness was a tragedy but also inspired Floyd's best music and David Gilmour was an amazing replacement.
Sending you great vibes on your journey through life, time and space and thank you for great conversation....you definitely seem like my type of person. I look forward to reading future posts and hope you stay safe on future trips. Your story about witnessing your "Egyptian Death" sounds fascinating! Take care and, by the way, which one's Pink? ;-)
