Recruiting Football Talk VIII

There's only 1 big ten person on the committee right? Hard to imagine he has that much sway over the rest of them.

Idk but don’t think it’s about Big Ten on this particular topic as much about big name brands (ND, PSU) and underdog stories (IU). Both are great for $$$. And the end of the day, there all 11-1, so that helps their cause regardless of who they played considering how many 2 and 3 loss teams dropped at least 1 game to inferior opponents.

Honestly I get why Madden flipped to Arkansas, SEC school and not far from Big Bro but also allows him to build his own legacy.

Also, UCLA plays in front of a half empty stadium and plays in a conference where it has to travel all the way across the country for road conference games. UCLA and USC both are negatively impacted in recruiting by the latter in my opinion.

Agreed, west coast teams in East Coast conferences have made the price tag to get big recruits higher. I don’t get why the Pac-12 broke up. I used to love those 10pm kicks 😅

All the outrage over the CFB committee and we'd be even lower in the BCS lol.

That said, give me the computer rankings. At least teams know and can plan for the criteria and we do away with all the drama. Also, get rid of the stupid conference winner byes crap. I'm totally fine with them getting qualified automatically. I'm even fine with granting the top G5 team a spot, but seed the teams from best to worst and I'm a lot happier.
I am not fine with automatically getting a top 4 bid. For SMU and Boise to get a 3-4 automatic big is a huge gift if they are not ranked there to begin with. All a conference championship should do for anyone is get them in the playoff. The seedings should go by the rankings and if one or 2 of these conference champs are outside the top 12 they should be 11 and 12 seeds. Not 3 and 4, that just doesn’t make sense nor is it fair. I think this will change in 2026 and it will go to 16 with no conference champ getting a automatic seed. The thing is most of the time the sec and big 10 champ will be in the top 4 anyway. But in this current system it screws the true alignment of were teams are truly ranked. They are being penalized because a champion of weaker conferences and the other 5 are taking spots of higher ranked and better teams and it’s just not right. GBO
