Recruiting Football Talk VIII

The Packers beg to differ.
Andy Reid turned Pat MaHomes into a 3 time Super Bowl Champion.
John Harbaugh turned Lamar Jackson into a 2 time MVP.
Josh Allen has developed into the favorite for league MVP this season.

Eagles developed Hurts into a top 10 QB.

I could post more but I will just leave it at that..

I wasn't going to be able to go to the game. Money has been tight this year. Just got a call from a buddy of mine who bought me a ticket to the game... and he is a Gator fan. I have no idea why he did this or why he wants to go, but I'm excited to be obnoxious at the shoe in a week! GB freakin O!

He better be wearing big orange.

5’-5” ladies
5’-10” men
Average height of men in the US is 5'9", women is 5'4". Assuming a normal distribution, it would be reasonable to go at least 1 sigma below the mean to be the beginning of "short“. So below 5'7"-ish for men and 5'2"-ish for women would be outside of "normal" height.

I agree that we absolutely need to get pressure but I wouldn't start with the blitz.

According to my analytics:
- Will Howard is the #9 QB in CFB against the blitz.
- OSU has the #2 WR unit on quick / short passing routes.
- The WR unit drops to #34 on deep routes.

Reading OSU boards, they lost to Michigan because the Wolverines were able to get pressure with just 4. OSU's receiver room is the best in the country, and they excel in the quick / short game. Obviously we need to get to the QB, but if we have to depend on the blitz to do that we're playing into exactly what they want.

They're missing their starting left tackle. They're missing their starting center.

We've got the #8 pass rushing EDGE unit, the #9 pass-rushing Interior DL unit, but only the #117 pass-rushing LB unit.

Pardon the essay, but I know we're going to see a TON of "why are we not blitzing more???" next Saturday. Given the strengths / weaknesses on these 2 rosters, the path to winning has to be to beat them with 4, and I really think we can.
Agree.

Ole Miss was able to dominate UGA because they could rush and disrupt with only 4.

If we can't do that vs OSU with only 4...I'm not sure the answer is to panic and rush more.

Like someone else said, it's the quick/short passing game that's beat us. Maybe we need to bring on more secondary and fake the blitzes. Breaking up short routes and coverage sacks may be better.

Unless it’s some type of injury situation you should never wait on a game till right before if you’re a normal person not trying to get around limits.

By waiting till kickoff you’re basically going against not only the oddsmakers, but also the collective intelligence of all the sharps/professional betters who have already hammered all the value out of a line.
I meant the day of, not the minute before. I think the sharps start betting the day of and that's my problem. I'll do the day before
