Not extending his contract after last season is not a good message to a coach you want to keep. Given his success this year, it turned out to be bad chess by Josh and Danny. I think that’ll end up costing us more money if Clemson makes the offer, and I assume they will. I’d still bet on him staying, but that is an uninformed opinion. Clemson has more delusional fans than we do, and it’s a culture void. Hopefully he notices that. I don’t want to lose him. Instability isn’t a good thing for a defense.

At the same time....leaving for a lateral move only delays his desire to be a HC.

I never saw us knock Beck down once in that game. We definitely never sacked him. He went home with a clean uniform. I was amazed at this because of all the talent on our Dline...and because as of our 8th game this season, only 1 team out of 8 finished the game with the same QB who started it. The other 7 starters were either injured or replaced, or both. We never touched Beck though...and I don't think we did much better vs OSU honestly. It was weird. I am a Banks supporter, he has been very good and the defense has improved every single season under him objectively and statistically...but he needs to self scout those 2 games bigtime to come up with a better plan.
