Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Regardless of football acumen, Jerry knows how to run business. The NFL sued him after he signed stadium deals with Nike and Pepsi. The league had deals with Reebok and Coke. They settled, and he got to keep his deals and sign others. Other owners followed his lead. This has allowed other owners to create revenue streams they didn’t have.

The Cowboys have actually drafted well in the recent past. The issues have been head coach choices and some drama behind the scenes.
Because Jerry now requires head coaches he can control and won’t steal his thunder like Jimmy Johnson did.

Not to mention that Nico did develop as the season went on. The way he played in the Vanderbilt game, both from a mental standpoint and a physical standpoint, compared to the way he played against Arkansas, was night and day different.
Doesn't count. Vandy was trash, except for when they beat Alabama, won @ Auburn, nearly beat Texas and Missouri, and prior to our game when they were a dangerous team that was very much capable of beating us.

I feel like nico's game to game improvement as the season went on is often lost on folk for sure.

I've been a UT fan long time, and I remember the days when I was devastated when we lost. That feeling went out the window when I realized the sun came out the next day and the mailman kept delivering my bills.

I'll always be a "true UT fan", but in the end, they're just games and the won loss record does not affect my life in the least. I won't let it.

Sorry if that bothers you bud, but as Paul Harvey would say--good day
I thought he would say..."and that's the rest of the story."

The fear of Florida baffles me.... Yes Lagway is coming back, but Napier is still the coach. He tries to be the smartest coach in the room and do things "by the chart"..... He's not that good.
I think it has everything to do with how their schedule was perceived to be an absolute nightmare. They were picked to go 3-9 by some prognosticators. Let's be honest, it didn't turn out relatively as bad.

UCF didn't live up to the hype, Kentucky turned out horrible despite pre season ranking, LSU wasn't as good as people thought and had key injuries, Ole Miss shredded the Florida defense but couldn't stop turning the ball over at critical times and Lane refused to settle for FGs, Florida State turned out horrible, and then they beat up on a Tulane team missing key starters including their 1st and 2nd string QBs.

I'm not saying Florida won't improve, but 8-5 with their schedule only looks so good because they were supposed to have a MUCH harder schedule than they did.
