Recruiting Football Talk VIII

If the Hornets could grab an decent Center, they wouldn’t be…bad

Ball (23)
Knecht (23)
Miller (22)
Bridges (26)
???

Get a solid center and that team could be pretty good in a couple of seasons. Really, really young team.

Maybe trade Josh Green and a pick for Nick Claxton

We have a legit scoring team. I agree, a center should be top priority as our tallest player is only 6’9. I think we should grab one in the draft this year, we should have top pick of C’s as Flagg and the Rutgers guys will be off the board before we pick, which im assuming will be pick 4. Another concern is $ as Lamelo has a large contract and gotta think thatd complicate things come extension time.

Yall talk bout Lebron being "LeGM" but now it's coming out that Luka is the one that told the Lakers to target Williams... atleast DK is closer for Vol fans to go watch now. Only if they were a better team to watch tho lol
Lebron got recalibrated with the Luka deal and AD going away. Luka is the future now. Oddly by drafting his son the Lakers have fresh leverage over Lebron too. I imagine he's ok with that aspect. I don't love the Lakers but Palinka played this deal like a banjo on the Pigeon Forge strip.

I agree with the draft strategy. Here are some ai recommendations.

The Duke kid also has a freakish wingspan which effectively makes him even taller.

As of February 6, 2025, the Charlotte Hornets have traded their starting center, Mark Williams, to the Los Angeles Lakers. This move opens up a significant need at the center position for the team.

In the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft, several center prospects could be potential targets for the Hornets, depending on their draft position:

Khaman Maluach: A 7'1" freshman center from Duke, Maluach has showcased impressive shot-blocking abilities and athleticism. He represented South Sudan in the Olympics, gaining valuable experience against top international competition.

Rocco Zikarsky: Standing at 7'2" from Australia, Zikarsky is noted for his size and potential as a rim protector. His international experience adds to his appeal as a draft prospect.

Aday Mara: A 7'3" center from Spain, Mara has demonstrated a versatile skill set, including scoring, rebounding, and shot-blocking. His play in European leagues has garnered attention from NBA scouts.

The Hornets' draft position will significantly influence which of these prospects they can realistically target. Given the team's current record and lottery odds, they may have the opportunity to select one of these promising centers to fill the void left by Williams' departure.

I think it is actually his athleticism that holds him back not his IQ. He can't physically do what even Gainey can do and drive to basket. He's an old school i need a screen shooter. IMO.
Disagree. He is athletic enough. Not elite but certainly athletic enough to be productive if he had good awareness, court vison and savvy. Those things keep his ceiling on offense much lower than it would be. They have much bigger effect that his modest quickness.
