Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Dancing in the Moonlight with King Harvest this morning. Woke up with it in my head and have it on repeat. Going to be a good day.
For some reason that song and In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry really get my mood up, especially during the warmer months on the way to work. Puts me in the mood for some afternoon delight.

I guess then that Bill Russell is the greatest of all-time and basically twice as good as Jordan. But rings are team accolades and we're talking about the best individual player here.

And since when are assists stat padding? Jokic is basically averaging 30/12/10. No one has ever done that. I grew up a huge Jordan fan and what Jocik is doing blows my mind even more than what Jordan did.

It's an objective fact that Jocik is having a season right now that is better than any season Jordan ever had.

Assists are literally the easiest stat to manipulate. Just hold onto the ball until the shot clock gets low. Pass it to someone. If they hit the shot you get an assist. If they miss it's onto the next. There's a reason guys who aren't even great passers like Russell Westbrook easily average 10+ assists. Assists nowadays are just a byproduct of ball dominance. Not a byproduct of being an elite floor general.

With regard to Bill Russell vs Jordan, if Russell did that in the modern era without a superteam and averaged more than 15ppg then he would be the GOAT. But in the 50s and 60s there were only 8 teams in the NBA when Russell was winning all those championships and Russell's teams were stacked with Hall of Famers to the point he could average less than 20ppg and still win all those titles.

Jordan played in the modern era. He didn't have a team that was filled with Hall of Famers compared to his contemporaries. And he also led the league in scoring every year and was the most efficient player according to the advanced stats. So unlike Jokic who only dominates the box score, Jordan dominated in every category. He was the best statistical player in the league as well as the best winner. And he did it all without having to stack the deck with superteams.

Reading the names of QB your senior year, some of y’all are just YOUNG, or I’m really old😊
1976-> Randy Wallace (Jimmy Streater and Pat Ryan) on the bench.
Saw way too many losses that year at home. Just had to hope they would get better as the year went a long but at least made a bowl.
