What do you know about trout?
Not much actually. Other than the only native 'trout' in Tennessee is actually a Char.

Brown Trout were imported from Europe, and are actually Salmon. Rainbow Trout have a mutation, called Golden Trout. That are stocked in NC and CO. Also, Salmon.

Brown Trout are predatory, grown long snouts as they get older and mature. They will eat Rainbow trout fry, as well as their own. Mayfly, stonefly, caddis fly, and other aquatic insects are their delicacy.

Brook Char are incredibly shy, and evasive fish. Vulnerable to pollution, temperatures, and O2 levels. They seldom live outside of headwaters.

Trout are giant faginas compared to Smallmouth.

You haven’t hooked a hog smallie then…there’s no comparison in the fight…I’ve seen more crank baits and grub worms spit out of a small mouth due to the slightest amount of slack in the line than any other fish and they’re not as a aggressive hitting the same bait a large mouth hits..they’re very very smart fish..if you dedicate a full day to yourself fishing you’ll notice you catch more large mouths than you will small mouths and that’s no coincidence.if you begin to catch more small mouth over large mouths then you’ve mastered your technique of baits thats in your tackle box arsenal.
