Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Including AD White or the same people that pressured the hire of Coach Harper?

I truly believe White is the sheriff now for all sports. Now, I don't think Kara will coach here because I don't think CKC is going anywhere anytime soon. But I doubt she has beef with White and I think White would overrule the others if we needed to hire her.
DW doesn’t overrule the people that write the checks.
Well I guess he could, but then they may stop the checks.

So many fish in the sea. And he’s already landed a prize marlin. Doubt we ever have to worry about it.

Where do we draw the line on cheating? Babe Ruth tried sheep testosterone to give him an edge. Numerous players including Aaron tried Greenies bc they believed it helped their focus/hand-eye coordination. A form of steroids was rampant in MLB in the late 60’s/early 70’s according to pitcher Tom House. Pitchers have doctored baseballs since the beginning or time. We had the sticky stuff scandal not too awful long ago. Many players have been caught with doctored bats. Astros stealing signs and the list goes on and on.
The same tired arguments that are unproven and of unknown efficacy, even if true. We KNOW that Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Clemens and many others juiced and we know that it enhanced their performance. Huge difference IMO.

I asked this on the board a couple of days ago but never saw a response, but does anyone know the status of AJ Russell? I don't recall seeing him pitch since that 1 inning

@GiggerVol I just saw this posted in the baseball forum. Hope this copy and paste works.

Edit to add post # 1,447 in case it doesn't take you straight to it.

McGwire hit 49 home runs his rookie year before any of the PED issue. He was on pace to challenge the record several times in those early years, only to have injury knock him out. Not that motive matters, but for him they were a means of playing a full season, not to make him a better hitter. He didn't need them to hit home runs, he needed them to stay healthy.
And your argument is no different than saying UNC's academic cheating scandal isn't actually cheating bc it wasn't proven and punished. UNC wasn't punished bc they cheated within the framework that the sport established and accepted. Pearl "cheated" outside that framework and was crucified for it when UNC's version was a much greater perversion of the spirit of the rule.
MLB is the height of hyocrisy! You cheat their way and it's part of the game. You cheat outside their framework and you are banned. Really hard to understand how those people are protecting the integrity of the game.
