Only took university provided insurance. Such a bad choice imo.

Hell, take out a loan and even put up real property as collateral if you need to in order to pay the premium. If you never need it, those premiums will be chump change with your #1 pick salary. If you do need it, you will get potentially millions from the payout and be very glad you did.

Unless those plans are complete ripoffs (to be fair I don't know much about them, though I figure they must be regulated by the state of Alabama like all insurance products), I can't understand not having it. Any good advisor should be telling him this, especially with prior injury history and #1 pick likely if healthy.

They can't be that expensive for a 12 month period. Plus, his parents moved from Hawaii. They got a pay raise in more ways than one.

It's the worst feeling ever when you finally realize you aren't going to hear anything recruiting/commitment wise till early signing.
Actually, losing is a much worse feeling. We are winning now! Continue to win and the good feelings from recruiting will take care of themselves.

To me it is borderline malpractice. These Universities have a responsibility to protect and advise these athletes that are making them millions if not billions of dollars. I definitely don’t think this will play out well with recruiting. I remember when Peyton was setting up all these insurance policies back in the day. He was definitely a pioneer on this.

Love it.

Maybe not, but how much value could he lose going from #1 to #20-30? Let's spitball conservatively and say $5m in present value dollars (serious injury likely affecting not just his initial salary and signing bonus, but potentially his entire career...so possibly many multiples over this). If his odds of being injured, with his prior history, was say 10% over the course of the season, we're talking 500k in premiums for breakeven, plus a margin for profit of the insurer.

Just guessing a lot here, but I can't see it being cheap for both a #1 consenus pick and having a prior injury. Jake Butt years ago cashed in around 500k after a late season injury and he paid 25k in premiums just for that. Not sure he even had previous injuries, which can greatly boost the amount.

Mortgage your parents' free house and your charger or use some of the bankroll.

I think Nick will know immediately when he gets an alert telling him Bass's liquid intake is skyrocketing as Bass binges on Coke Zeroes till he passes out inebriated with aspartame.

Bass knows the deal... as long as he stays below the 1,100 or so cans of diet soda consumed everyday for a lifetime (the number supported by actual scientific research and not alarmist bloggers) he should be good.

The football coaches choose to be that way.... like they are building a secret atom bomb. I’m not bashing Pruitt for it, a lot of coaches do it. I don’t think Pruitt likes that hubbs gets exclusive access as a UT employee but at the same time runs a gossip/recruiting board.

I didn't realize Hubbs was an employee. What does he do?

I'm firmly under that number. Just finished off 1,005 for the day #winning

Precisely. Hell, the insurer would probably even let you make delayed payments since they know you'll for sure be in the nfl. The only scenario you aren't is in case of a career ending injury, which is exactly when the Bama insurance policy kicks in.

This is just SO egregious. Saban has ruined this kid's life. Tua is a good kid too imo. Saban is a fckboy.
