Helicopter travel is quite dangerous. I don’t know why people would choose to do it frequently.

Yea, I have thought about this too. Although, I would guess there are less helicopter deaths pro rata than deaths from vehicle crashes. But, my wife and I took two helicopter flights at the beginning and end of our honeymoon, to and from the airport in St. Lucia. It was a really cool experience, but I can say that I was a little nervous.

My phone was off pretty much all day...then I turn it on to see the news about Kobe and celebrity/athlete deaths never really affect me.....but man this one hurt. I played basketball for over half my life starting with junior pro....middle school team....aau ball...and then onto high school ball where I blew my knee out twice and had to give up basketball for good. Man...my love for basketball was unmatched and he was one of the players that I wanted be like. Just his skill....determination...and of course his mentality.

Then bunch it together with myself being a father to 3 beautiful children...one of them being a daughter. As a Dad we pride ourselves in being the protector of our children...especially our daughters. I can't imagine what was going through his head on his final moments on earth knowing he was absolutely helpless to protect his daughter. I just hope they had one final embrace and told each other they loved each other. I hope to God they passed quickly without any suffering.


Ladies and gents....like I said I felt this one today to the point I cried like little boy.

Rip Kobe. Rip Gianna.
And to all those that were on the helicopter.
Life is precious.....so precious.

As a frequent survivor of many helicopter rides (thank you, Rakkasans), I rather enjoyed the trips. Somehow never crashed. I was told that the most dangerous part of my deployment to Iraq was when I had to get on I-16.

You're correct..it was a small plane and not a helicopter.
