Notoriety has monetary value: EXPOSURE TO NFL TEAMS, not to mention players now receive a cost of living stipend, to answer the first part no I haven't but I have walked around broke as a non-athlete at UT and I would have gladly put on the helmet and shoulder pads for a free education rather than paying around 15K a semester for Tuition, books, food, and an apartment.

You are severely overvaluing a bachelors degree. It’s becoming less and less valuable the more people that get them. A lot of trade school programs are making more money and becoming more valuable now. So this whole thing Of acting like the Provided opportunity they are given to pursue a degree is this million dollar opportunity is just silly to me.

Idk what your career field is but would you be ok if your boss gave you a new contract for the next five years where you’re not being paid actual money but instead having all of your “expenses” covered (housing, meals, insurance) but you still have to find a way to pay for car, phone, gas, social life expenses...etc but after 5 years you MIGHT (but unlikely) get a substantial promotion and pay raise to real money.

Also this stipends you speak of, do not go to every athlete, and when they do they are about 2500$ a year.

LOVE this move. Big Osovet fan, and I’m glad he got on the field here at UT instead of finding it elsewhere.

My favorite part of this is you can attract some real coaching and recruiter talent by proving to them already that they have the chance to get a promotion as other coaches get bigger opportunities.
It also helps in the coaching cycle if you already have your next position coach waiting in the wings.

Valid points.

I mean that's a pretty impressive parlay call that nobody else in here was even close on.

Accidents are typically caused by a chain of mistakes or poor decisions. All it takes is breaking the chain to prevent the accident. Anyone could’ve spoken up about being uncomfortable flying in that weather, but no one wants to be “that person.”

Contributing factors:

Poor weather planning and collaboration between the pilot and Bryant family.

The charter company did not allow its pilots to fly on an instrument flight plan.

Because the flight couldn’t be completed IFR due to company policy and with the weather being so low, it should have been cancelled.

Because of company policy, the pilot was not proficient in instrument flying and when they punched into the clouds (imo) experienced spatial disorientation.

This accident had nothing to with the integrity of the helicopter and rests entirely on the decision making of the pilot and Kobe Bryant. It could have happened just as easily in an airplane. Don’t push weather when you are limited in alternate courses of action.

Tell that American pilot 🖕🏿 and reschedule your helicopter tour.

my bachelors degree got me in the door in the profession I chose, the rest was up to me but without it I wouldn't have gotten in.

2-3 year old vehicles with around 35k miles is the way to go. Got my Murano half price with those exact numbers.

Also researching car brands that retain value and stick to those brands.
Literally just bought a car like this yesterday. It saved me a ton. 1 owner no accidents, you can’t beat it.

Board question: who is your favorite VFL that you wouldn’t consider an absolute superstar. No Peyton’s, Reggie’s, Eric Berry’s, that Ilk.

Mine is Deon Grant.....and it ain’t close

I loved Grant as well. Interesting question though...

Basketball: Isiah Victor (he got forgotten a bit cause CJ Black, Ron Slay, Marcus Haislip)
Football: Cedric Houston he's always been that RB that I feel didn't get the workload he deserved. First Jabari Davis was vulturing and then Riggs. Was also always impressed by Jonathan Hefney, he seems to get forgotten a lot as well.
