Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

Some people never learn. Last year it was Missouri running their mouth about beating us 50-17 or something in back to back years. They were a hot team in the east for last year’s preseason with tons of hype around Kelly Bryant and all their returning linemen and highly touted defense. Of course as often happens when folks let their mouths overload their asses we not only beat Missouri, Guarantano throws for a career record 415 yards, and a few weeks later the Admin and fans at Missouri tell their big talking head football coach to take his alumnus ass and go find a job somewhere else, anywhere but there.

I’m taking these tweets coming out of Florida to indicate that we’re going to beat them this year. I honestly didn’t see this as that much of a likelihood before today. I figure it’s almost a certainty now. Go figure. Things happen really fast in life. I guess after all these years I’m not that surprised but what is pretty significant is their fans and players don’t appear reflective enough to know how this works out. After they lose to us this year the entire program will invest just about all of its energy in trying to run Mullen out of town. I can’t say at the moment whether they’ll be successful or not but in any case,

You hate to see it. jmo.

I know it’s all about passing in today’s football, but if you can straight up stop the run without tricking it up and selling out, you have an advantage and that gets the team rolling. Started seeing that turnaround against Bama and the rest of the team fed off of it. Hadn’t glimpsed it since the best days of Vols football. If our high end NFL level DT’s could have stopped a LSU backup QB from killing us with QB keepers, how much better would our program history seem? No way previous teams in recent history stop Kentucky on the goal line. Was always WHEN not if they broke.

Just put this in my quote queue and set a reminder on the calendar for Sept 26. Can’t wait to give @ChattaTNVol a check-the-stats shout when we’re celebrating that beat down.
