If only he knew that he was going to bolt like he did. Its incredible what has happened after that. Kiffen had a decent year his first year and had a second solid recruiting class coming in. He was on the right path and then BOOM

Butch followed in His footsteps many years and Brian Kelly went 4-8 in 2016. In hindsightā€™s we should have waited to see if butches 2017 was going to handle the same. Remember butch had a top 5 classes rolling that year before it all unraveled
Phoenix would have been Butches Dobbs

When your coaching big board takes you through all the names, pros & cons and you land back on Butch itā€™s time to turn off the lights and start fresh the next day..

It's not his fault the coaches keep putting him back in. I don't hate him at all.

My son is 15. We have had 5 coaches in his lifetime and butch delivered by far the best times to be a Vol

That should be some serious perspective

Yeah, I was just thinking about that, what if we were patient and gave him one more year.
But then I remember losses to Vandy and UK. All of the staff turnover at the end. The title 9 stuff. The McDaniel stuff. It was time.
Now, where it does put me, I don't like Pruitt, I am very out on him right now, I don't trust him at all. But then there's one small thought in the back of my mind that says what if Salter is that guy? What if Bailey develops this off season.

Yep. The passing of time causes amnesia as we revise history. When the trumpet player was on his way out people were saying Dooley wasn't too bad.
