Kelly recruited the same type of players at Cincy and had a similar system. He changed his system to fit his talent when at ND. But, of course, Jones won't do that.

It really sounds like that's exactly what Jones plans on doing. He said we are going to have a pro style offense. But one that's adaptable to the personnel. I'm not concerned in the least bit that our personnel doesn't look like what he had in Cincy. If you can coach, you can coach.

It's fair to worry about it. If he doesn't adapt, we get destroyed. People act like because he coached where Kelly coached he's just as good as Kelly. For anyone to say either way with certainty is ridiculous. I hope he'll turn out as good and I hope he'll adapt, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that he could tank. He's never had to adapt, so i don't think the worries are too irrational.

Apparently you didn't read that article. Jones & Kellys systems look similiar pre-snap but that's it. They are geared to do different things, & they did not recruit the same type of players.

I like the Tommy Thigpen hire. Is W Martinez confirmed?

From looking at Thigpen's rivals recruiting page most of his targets are in NC & AL.

Tommy Thigpen - Auburn Football

He was the lead recruiter for M North. Also Jalen Tabor 2014. Anybody know if he's tight with Lawson? Maybe he could talk Lawson into at least giving UT a visit. Would be huge.

Better watch out, people on here consider that "freaking out".

Also, wouldn't be surprised if Pig got moved to RB in Jones system. He fits the mold of RB's he's had at Cincy.

Read the three part column about how Kelly and Jones differ in their approach to the spread offense. It is very clear that Jones has stayed true to the principles of the spread eschewed by Rich Rodriquez. Kelly, on the other hand was more flexible in adapting his offense to his talent. Let's hope that Jones lives up to his word.

247 is reporting that Jon Jancek, Don Mahoney, and Mark Elder are on their way to Knoxville to begin working for UT. UC Interim head coach Steve Stripling has also been calling recruits on behalf of Tennessee (Dominique Booth, in particular).

I'm assuming Elder will be the TE's/ST's Coach.

Serious question, does anybody have any statistics on weight gain during college at a smaller time program like Cincinnati, vs a big SEC program. I would think that it might be larger at a program like Cinci who doesn't get the more refined players that have neccessarily had access to good S&C programs in high school. Meaning that a 220 lb back going to an LSU out of high school could very well be the same weight after four years as an 190 lb back going to Cinci after being in a college S&C program. Just curious and don't really have much to back that up as to be honest tonight is the first time I have really looked at running backs weights, tend to just base opinions on watching them play. For example just realized tonight that Andre Ellington is only 192.

To be fair, the author of that article only mention QBs and receivers.

if Tee returns to staff, think there is a realistic shot with Ramsey and maybe some other surprises? Or still a long shot?

SIAP - al.com reporting that according to Boston Globe Saban could be targeted as the Cleveland Browns' next head coach if the franchise hires one of his former colleagues as general manager.

So Mark Elder, joining the staff, was lead recruiter for Jalen Ramsey, Corn Elder, Jordan Wilkins, Dylan Wiesman.

Gotta think Tee being added to staff would help, plus this guy's connections.

Edit: Tee could also make some noise in the Jason Hatcher/James White scenario.
