I have a friend - national sports writer who covers college football -
He says freeze is just a horrible human being. Has a list of things that he has done or allowed that would make your skin crawl.

Does that matter?
Do you still want him?

A big part of me wants to say: “Of course it matters.” But then I also think Urban Meyer is a horrible human being, and realize I would accept him as head coach here without question.

If the stuff was the kinda stuff that made my skin crawl (say, Epstein stuff) then I'd rather try an up & comer with head coaching experience. But I'd have to believe the stuff was true and would have to know who the national sports writer was & how he/she knew it was true. Like if it's from Wolken - color me skeptical. I don't even want Urban here because I believe he covered up for a wifebeater.

I’m with @Ron Swanson on this one there is just no way our boosters/Admin will keep Pruitt and I also believe that CPF’s ego will get him canned as well. There’s no reason to rush a decision. Donors and admin likely waiting to see if anything comes out of the investigation (though not likely IMO).

I also think that Pruitt won't get canned until Tennessee has atleast 1 or 2 guys ready to sign on the dotted line.

Freeze is a given to take the job if offered.

I think Gus could be at play just because he would be really cheap considering he's getting 11 million dollars before 1/1/21.

One thing about a messy ending to a coach with a possible investigation of rules infractions coming out would be to move on from him and make their memory quickly forgotten. I really don't think Tennessee is served best by getting Pruitt out the door just to get him out.

We'd be in better shape if we can Pruitt and then have his replacement ready to be introduced in 2-3 days shortly after.

It may not be his decision but what if he talks the money people into another year of Pruitt? Or what if they simply don’t give a damn anymore and don’t want to spend millions on little to no return buying out yet another coach.

Metal just said nothing has changed. They want to clean house.

I just want, just for f@&$ing once, to have a ball coach who take what he has and find a way to win, instead of someone who constantly complains about what he doesn’t have and gets whipped by those with less.

When someone is making $4-10 million per year to coach sports. it's easier to expect more from them, esp if a public figure.
