IF he is coming back, what staff would it take to turn thing around? Can’t think of any that would come in and totally 180 the offense or defense.

Keep Chaney and Tee on the offensive side of the ball. Hopefully Graham stays too.

On defense I think Pruitt would have to make the “best friend” pitch to Muschamp. Since Muschamp is getting millions from USC, offer him a 2 year no buyout deal for 750K per year and then build around it.

The key for Pruitt if he gets a year 4 is retain Chaney and don’t change the offensive scheme or coordinator. That would do him in much like it did with Butch and just like it did with Dooley and Sunseri

Honestly Boyd is the smart one. He’s a business guy. Why would he make a decision or take a stance now when there is an investigation that could potentially cause Pruitt’s buyout to go from 100% guaranteed to renegotiated or $0/Fired with cause?

No sense is taking a stance with everyone until everything has played out. Tennessee has nothing but time right now. Let this investigation be done and see who did what and when. Everyone wanting a decision tonight are not losing anything if decision is made Friday night. Lord knows we aren’t losing out on coaches if we wind up separating from Pruitt
Think the way the Auburn search is going lets the decision makers slow down. No sense of urgency when the candidate pool hasn't changed.

It was said that Tee and Graham are gone.

Bailey with a second year would take the leap JG never did, assuming Pruitt leaves then the f@@& alone.

I think it's business as usual. People get what they want to out of what posted when nothing definitive is known.

Vq sounds to me like they're at least soft selling the notion of Pruitt coming back even if it's only due to the absence of a known alternative.

So to me that makes the prospect of him coming back at least as likely as not... At least in their eyes.

In the end I go back to the graphic the sec network showed before the aTm game with Pruitt's body of work thru three years and that graphic looked like one for a guy that was already fired or about to be.

So I lean that way.

That said...I still think the most important part is the hire, so the only legit reason I'd keep him is if I already knew I wasn't gonna be able to get the guy I wanted. Cause I want no part of what Auburn is going thru.

I want Pruitt gone. He is not the guy, but I don't like our chances of hitting a home run with the next coach.

UT is a good job, but we have sucked for a long time. Our fans expectations are extremely high and we play in the toughest conference in america. Why would any home run coach want to come here?

If it was easy to get a great coach, USCe and auburn would have them already. This is why we need to just hire Freeze. He could be a home run or he could be much better than we've had in years. He would take this job and not embarrass us during this coaching search.

Art briles would be another one I would hire if he is properly vetted. We need a damaged goods coach who needs another chance. We won't get the others on the list or we will be settling for napier or whoever who may or may not work.

I’m no expert on contracts, but I can’t imagine how much money it’s going to take to get any decent assistants to come here on a sinking ship. I’m sure they’ll ask for lucrative buyouts. Talking about hiring 3-5 assistants knowing there’s great chance of them being let go next year.
