Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Talking to some SC fans and Will Friend is definitely not thought of highly on their boards. He is basically Willie Martinez...can’t coach or recruit but has a lot of buddies in the industry so always falls UP into jobs. I am guessing if he goes there they get him on the cheap.

FWIW I don’t think there is any smoke to the Jay Graham to SC rumors. Their current RB coach is one of two they definitely want to keep. They really like Dez Kitchings.

When does the lore of Osevet reach Rod Wilkes status? Feel like I’ve been waiting on that dude to revolutionize SEC offense yet we still suck.

23 passes a game won’t cut it. Florida and Ole Miss were the only teams to get close to Bama all year and they threw it probably 50 times. UGA would eat that little gimmick run first offense alive.
Did you not notice the offensive balance? That is why his offense is unstoppable. He beat a top 10 team that throws the football 50 times a game. The quarterback for BYU will most likely be a top 5 draft pick. He did that with a roster full of guys that would never get an offer from a top program

He’d be out of here in 3 years.

Guess you didn’t watch the georgia southern vs Bama game a few years ago. It gave them all sorts of fits. Also, GSU beat UF in the swamp the last time they played with that offense. Imagine our athletes being able to go option and then spread...
Funny you mention it.

No don’t think I will. Saban has struggled against virtually no offenses except Freeze and Kiffins and Dabos and sometimes Malzahns. We don’t need an up and comer in Chadwell who by the way has had NCAA trouble which is why y’all say we won’t hire Freeze so pick a side.
His ”trouble” was hardly him. It been discussed more than once. Look we all mostly want Freeze but the blind hatred towards any other name is weird.

I think the decision plays out and if he is still here by New Year's then he is staying. I also think its pretty hard to fire for cause. Like AP said we had all the evidence in the world on Curry willfully disobeying his boss and we still paid his buyout. Now the interesting thing is what happened with Bo Pelini at LSU. If you read the press release it says they parted ways. The two parties agreed to a financial settlement to end his employment agreement, according to an official release, with Pelini set to accept a one-time payment in lieu of liquidated damages detailed in his contract. So this way he was no officially "fired". Thus he doesn't have that blackmark on his resume. So maybe we can save $3-4M and just part ways.

I know a few sports writers, that had the internal investigation not been going on, would believe it. By no means do I have any inside info, especially UT specifically, but I do have about half a dozen friends that write for sporting agencies in the south east. I’ve asked what they actually think, as guys that can’t afford to wear orange tinted glasses, and they claim that if Tennessee been able to fire him for just going 3-7 that Freeze would definitely be in play. However, with the NCAA possibly coming in to snoop around it’s just not possible.

As an aside, they also think CJP is back for 1 more year.
Freeze already coaches at liberty. How is this a problem with the ncaa if he is already coaching again ?
