I think they are doing this because the leak forced their hands. Getting Pruitt out of here may be a happy by-product (to most fans), but if there hadn’t been a leak, this would have all been done behind the scenes and we would not have been able to enjoy the repeated insider reports, meltdowns, etc. on Volnation. If Pruitt is complicit and they can prove it at a level they can fire him risk free, they will. Barring that, I have no faith that he will be gone. JMHO

If it is leaked before the investigation wraps up, then it gives the appearance that the investigation was just for show. After the internal investigation wraps up something will be leaked one way or the other.

Basilio just made a good point, why would Pruitt bring in Steele, when Steele was the runner up for the job in 17 when he's an embattled coach

One possibility. Since Steele was the runner up and is a TN guy who is well liked by the AD, bringing him in provides Pruitt with a buffer for the coming year. With Steele there, Pruitt can defer to him on certain aspects of the program (defense) and if it is successful bask in the glory. If it isn’t successful, he just quietly (or not so quietly) throws Steele under the bus. Easy to say, “Fulmer, you picked this guy and he has let us all down.“ JMHO

He talks to Roger every day as the last call, Roger is a staple in the community and calls into numerous shows. Roger is obviously special needs and Tony does a lot to help Roger. Tread lightly

Pruitt doesn't defer.

Oh definitely not making fun of him he clearly cares about the program a lot and wants the best for Pruitt, Im loving it right now. Solid show.
