Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

After talking to some people, I'm not ruling out end of this week/weekend. I know earlier in this thread I thought that was too fast, now I'm not so fast.

I think White could certainly be a candidate. I don't know where the Chancellor is going with this hire right now. She's keeping things very quiet and close. His resume is good. Now, do they want to hire a guy with no UT connections and no SEC or Power 5 experience even as an assistant? I don't know.

I think it's pretty evident she's wanting to run her search.

Stumping for Fulmer in a press conference to “preserve his legacy” and fool the sheeple info thinking this was a retirement, only to signal to anyone with two brain cells that we’re paying him nearly $40,000 in hush money per month because this is actually a firing.

Fulmer’s “legacy” too me has been permanently tarnished. He continues to milk the university after doing irreparable damage to this program not once but TWICE. The national championship is nice, but I’m trying to imagine just where this program could be today if Fulmer didn’t nuke Knoxville on his way out the door both times.

I'm sick of the type of crap Dennis Dodd keeps putting out there. The worst that Tennessee should be in any given year is 7-5. We can stay in that place for an extended period of time, but the worst we should be is 7-5.

Losses:
Florida
Georgia
Alabama
a rotating West opponent who happens to be good that year
a P5 OOC opponent who happens to be good that year

Wins:
OOC creampuff #1
OOC creampuff #2
OOC creampuff #3
Vandy
Kentucky
South Carolina
Mizzou

Where am I going wrong here? Even the harshest critics of our fanbase and program I think couldn't disagree with that. Would any of them actually suggest that over a long period of time, it makes sense for us to have losing records to schools like Vandy, South Carolina, and Mizzou?

I think if you're putting the good and bad on scales, the good still outweighs the bad. However, the bad is of such a weight that its gets your attention and you can't just ignore it. This program crested and began its decline under him, and when he was allowed back into the fold to fix the mess 10 years later he made an absolutely atrocious head coaching hire that not only performed horribly on the field but got into lots of trouble off of it. I know he won a national title here and has the second most wins in school history, but you can't just write that off like some of his sycophants want to.

I think 8-4 / 9-3 on the regular is very realistic with a 7-5 floor and 10-2/11-1 type ceiling once we get rolling (hitting that every now and again). I'm with you, how would anyone argue against us having a 7-5 floor?

No this is correct. A capable coach should be able to get us to no worse than 7-5 (4-4) every year.

We should beat the teams we out-recruit every year. And we out-recruit Vandy, USCe, UK, and Mizzou by a healthy and sometimes significant margin.
