Trying to wrap my head around Chadwell, but I just don't see it. I don't think his offense would work here.

Before you come back with "but but but adapt offense", think about how many times we've all heard that before on this very board.

Color me skeptical.

Bob Stoops would be like hitting a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th with two outs in Game 7 of the World Series down 3.

Except in this circumstance, Tennessee isn't the New York Yankees. Tennessee is the New York Mets.

So, essentially what I'm saying is that this is a pipe dream and this is not going to happen.

It would be like hitting a grand slam to win the World Series when you didn’t make the playoffs.

I believe there is already a contract with a large pay raise sitting on Kiffin's desk unsigned. Monte has publicly stated they regret leaving TN. Kiffin has told Chris Low and others he regrets leaving TN. I don't think it is unrealistic that he would want this job. TN is still a better job than Ole Miss.
In what world is TN better? Is Ole Miss without an AD? Did Ole Miss just fire the HC and two coaches and the entire recruiting office? Is Ole Miss staring at likely NCAA bowl penalties, scholarship restrictions, etc? Is Ole Miss looking at multiple players in the portal?

Better job my butt.......

Kiffin is likely using his "interest" in the "dream job" at UT to "Gundy" Ole Miss into giving him more money.

Kiffin, likely like Hugh Freeze, doesn't ACTUALLY want to step into the chaos at UT but threatening a move is a good negotiating lever. Kiffin is in a far better situation to turn Ole Miss into a winning program than UT.
I can see where he thinks Tennessee could help him more than Ole Miss and being in the east would be easier to get to the SEC Championship. Think he would like to beat Saban then be set up in the east when he leaves. But, yeah, I don't trust him at all.

Someone tell why Kiffin isn't happening. Keep seeing it. Something to do with the NCAA or just some boosters not willing?
Nobody has any reason anyone isn’t happening, it’s all opinions and speculation.
Haven’t you learned that from the ton of “not Happening “ predictions that have happened already?

How do we feel about Dave Clawson (Wake Forest) or Justin Wilcox (Cal)? They both have had stints here but have shown well at their schools. Jeff Brohm's (Purdue) star has fizzled a bit but he's still a great coach. He was in that same "rising stars" coaching class with Campbell (Iowa State) and PJ Fleck (Minnesota).

I think that those are five names that would be as good, if not better, than the guy they hired at Auburn.

Wait you just legitimately mentioned both Wilcox and Clawson for the Tennessee Head coaching job in the same sentence with no blue font.

Take 10,000 laps.

Learned that where there is smoke, there's fire. So still trying to figure out why this is being said by so many different people.

===IF=== UT were a stable program, it's far better than Ole Miss for Kiffin. Reality says: UT will be rebuilding for several years, depending on scholarship and recruiting dings from the NCAA.

Ole Miss is in "been there, done that" territory with the NCAA and Kiffin can move forward there.

A move to UT means a couple of years of scholarship penalties, bowl restrictions, and perhaps other recruiting restrictions for Kiffin vs no such issues at Ole Miss. Cmon.....

I’ll take it one step further and say it all comes down to trust. Can decision makers trust Kiffin with the most important position hire in the history of UT football? He burned us once in a horrible way.

I’m guessing the answer is “No”.

They should, this job is number 1 for Lane. This is his destination job. The year we had with Lane was one of the most incredibly fun years ever.

I would trust him over anyone else. If Bama came calling in 3 years Lane would be thrilled to give them the middle finger and hang 60 on them the next time we played them.

To be reunited with Vol Twitter. To write one of the greatest chapters in college football history.

Without coming back to Tennessee does he get his 30 for 30?

Lane has dreamed about coming home since a few years in at USC. It’s not about it currently being a better job for next season. It’s about being the one job he always wanted but didn’t know till he moved on.

Let the past go, it’s time to bring Lane Home

So I spent tonight watching this entire game, which funnily enough they even mention how Chadwell grew up a Vols fan, took his first date to the 1992 Alabama game, and Im all aboard the Chadwell train. He is the most realistic option and this offense is genuinely fun to watch. If you cant sleep like me, give CC's offensive snaps a watch. Remember, Pruitt lost to this BYU team.

Chadwell's coaching icon was Johnny Majors. Bring him home.

They beat a team that beat us at home. I am all in on CJC

His offense has 3 schemes. Triple, spread, rpo. He adjusts on the fly depending on what the defense is defending. That’s innovative. It’s foolish to say it won’t work without trying it. It was t too long ago when we were saying the big 12 passing offenses won’t work in SEC. look at the conference now.

The day we hang 60 on Bama, we'll be staring back at 100.

There's zero reason for Lane Kiffin to leave an Ole Miss program with a stable AD, a decent staff, a full recruiting staff, and a healthy team
FOR
UT which is under NCAA investigation with likely multiple Level I violations meaning bowl and scholarship penalties, no Athletic Director, several key staff positions empty, an entire recruiting office fired, and multiple key players in the transfer portal.

Just tell me why UT looks better than Ole Miss today?

I'm gonna assume this is full on troll and a good one.

Yes, oh yes, you convince me. I can see it now: Lane Kiffin looking at Neyland and in his best George McFly voice saying: "You're my density!"

But....... outside of the movies, Kiffin would be an absolute fool to leave Ole Miss for UT.

His offense may not work in the sec. Just from what I've gathered from his interviews and speeches he doesn't seem like he is married to his system. Sounds like he can adapt from week to week according to his opponents.
Another thing is he seems to be a good people person. Believes in building relationships and is able to see the big picture. Plus he loves Tennessee.
He gets a lot out of his player's.

honest question, if Chadwell was not an East Tennessee boy, would you all still want him?
Chadwell got owned by the NCAA at Charleston Southern.

I'd put down a stack of McDs Happy Meals that if he hangs another 2 years at Coastal Carolina, the NCAA will own him there.

It's odd, isn't it, how he goes to a random unheard of football school, they win big then vacate those wins....... he is now at another random unheard of football school winning big........ want to guess what comes next?????

Hard pass.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't USC heading toward sanctions in 2010, whenever he took that job?

I don’t see either Kiffin or UT making this move. But, here are some possible reasons why it would make sense to him:

1. Kiffin knows that there will be low expectations for the next few years. If he turns it around quickly, he’s a hero among fans and his star will shine brighter than ever with the national media. He can demand anything. If he doesn’t, he will still take home a massive check and avoid the grumbling due to poor performance.
2. He has navigated these waters before. He knows he can produce in this situation.
3. He is aware of the 2022 TN state class, and I suspect he is confident he can sell them on a return to prominence, early playing time and his NFL connections.
4. He knows UT administration and boosters will give him everything possible to right this ship. A hefty budget for coaches and staff. All the consultants he wants.
5. UT‘s facilities and support are superior.
6. UT plays in an easier division.
7. He could make more money. Not just a bump over his existing pay. Think of the potential for unique performance incentives (winning season in Yr. 1 = $300,000 bonus. Then another $100,000+ for every win above 7 - 5).
8. He has many of the VFLs on his side already. Always good to have them calling for you.
9. He gets to break in a new AD and staff who will be pressured to help him facilitate a return to success.
10. He knows that, despite the past, he still has strong support from many of the UT fans. They will turn out for games in response to the excitement he can generate (another opportunity to leverage a contractual bonus).
11. He has maintained ties to the biggest boosters at UT. They will be in his corner.

Just a few off the top off my head.
