your point is still not wrong.Yeah, forgot him too. So far then out of all that have been named, 3 have worked out, Saban, Meyer, and Jimbo, and the latter hasn’t really done anything yet
it's still the same short list of coaches that have knocked it out of the park, everyone else is still wait and see.
Kirby was widely considered a home run hire as well, and while he certainly hasn't "sucked", so to speak, there's a lot of speculation regarding him and his ability to get over the hump, the specific hump, he was hired to get over.
Harbaugh hasn't been "bad" overall....but he's supposed to beat OSU....at some point. so he's not achieved the goal he was hired to either.
Jimbo, well, he did do it at FSU. and while aTm isn't there, he had them on the cusp this past season, so at least directionally, it's looking like it's pointed in the right direction.
so, all that to say...everything is relative. and it is for us....we're no where close to championship caliber....and won't be for, well, i don''t know the answer to that question...we're not there and not close right now.
but just like the hire of the AD, i don't think we make a coaching hire due to the situation we're in....rather, we hire the coach for the situation we want to be in.....at least that's got to be the intent/purpose. and if that's where we are, i have some modicum of confidence going forward.
