I’m game for all of this except the amount of the $$$$’s getting out before it’s accepted. You’re giving your backup plan leverage if primary target falls through.

No question.

I will say, I’m not sure why you throw massive money at one coach and then just say “**** it, Tony Elliot” if it doesn’t work out.
I still think we may be all guessing at names here. I dont have any doubt we're trying to pony up and pay, but I'm still not convinced on the names yet. Hopefully find out soon enough.

I heard that we addressed NCAA concerns by offering a rolling five years plus any penalty and over 40mm. Things are squeaky tight, and I don’t know when I’ll know more. I heard that Boyd, White we’re together about 6. I don’t know who it is. If we miss, we go straight to two, and still have a coach tomorrow.
Sounds like #2 has already agreed in principle to the terms.

I would say two reasons:

1) Signing Day is 9 days away. They want to get someone in.

2) They don’t want to start the process of public reactions.

I may be wrong here but I bet the booster situation is worse in Texas than here by a long shot. Maybe they are giving him everything including the money.
Our terrible issue that kept coaches away was poor leadership at the top of the University and in the AD. That perception is changing quickly. You also can't discount being able to coach against Saban, Smart, Mullen, and Fisher. Some coaches will get scared off by that and some would love the opportunity.
