Honestly, what does Nick Saban have left to prove at the college level?

He’s already passed Bear Bryant for most National Championships won.

At this point, he’s just rubbing it in.

Makes me wonder.

Wasn’t it Lowe who had all the smoke about Tennessee was Freeze’s dream job? And he carried on with it for a few days, if I’m not mistaken. Then things went quiet with Freeze and has stayed that way for the most part since a little bit before Pruitt was fired. Makes me wonder.
Freeze’s cryptic time tweet. I translated: When the time comes, make the most of it.

Here are the possibilities, and it’s anyone’s guess

1. In spite of having all the monies, coaches are afraid of sanctions and we are going to have to settle and pray for a miracle or wait for the next hire.

2. Our target is middle of the road, and the blue is being softened with bottom tier names leaked.

3. All of this is noise to setup a big coach reveal.

4. Nothing is settled and it’s all just speculation

4 and maybe 3

As fun as it was to track the Des Moines plane, Campbell is out and has been out. Yall have got to move on for your own mental health. There are two options I see, Elliot or someone that no person has discussed yet. Sorry dudes, NCAA sanctions & an empty roster just isn't that appealing.

Elliott has been tied to a lot of jobs and hasn't jumped. Why would he jump here now?

5. Steele is interim for a year to give time for the sanctions to clarify. But what if the 2A waits two years to announce?

He’s a good coach. Great offensive mind. Program builder. It didn’t work out for him at Cal, but nobody wins there. And it’s not like he failed spectacularly, they were just mediocre.

We could do far worse than him imo. I’d take someone w his experience over Elliott, given the current circumstances of our job. Although Elliott may have a higher ceiling, his floor would be considerably lower.

Dykes floor would be explosive offense and shaky D, 7-5 type seasons. Problem is his ceiling prob is below playoff contender.
Holy crap that guy puts up serious points... never looked into him before.

Not good defenses, but what if Steele stuck around as DC? Almost assuredly 30+ ppg offense and low 20s ppg defense imo.

11-year AVERAGE - 35.8 PPG. 9/11 seasons over 30 ppg. The only 2 years below were Y1s. 7/11 were 37+ ppg. Best season he put up 52 ppg 👀 These are Yurcich type numbers (f*** Pruitt for not hiring him btw...)

So, did anyone hear Clay Travis's comments a few days ago on how there had been several big name coaches reach out to him showing interest in being our coach? What happened to all those dudes? Especially, if we're offering $7 million a year??? I'm so confused...is Travis reliable?
