just wondering - has anyone legitimately come out and said Campbell has declined?

Or did we just skip way past him in our (VN/fans) assumption that we’ve already plummeted to a Sonny Dykes level hire?

We still all just completely guessing?
"reports" say he's not interested....there's been nothing confirmed about anything really....we think we know about Franklin and Fleck....there's been "reports" from MN and PSU about their level of interest in the job....some believe Franklin still in play.

Please give me some hope man... this is horrible haha, but also fantastic.

You're still so early in the game. You may be lucky and have a great sleeper. You may start seeing smiles in about 3-4 more weeks and then some giggles about 3-4 weeks after that. Those are gamechangers! Makes the sleepless nights a bit more worthwhile.

Fulmer wasn't going to retire, he just extended himself over the summer. Fulmer was a joke, disaster and has ruined his legacy here forever

I don't think he has ruined his legacy, unless a lot more bad stuff about him comes out. I personally liked him when he was winning, didn't like it when his recruiting went downhill, was ready for him to be fired the first time, was pleasantly surprised when he came in and made what looked like a decent hire under the circumstances, and now am glad that he at least knew when it was time to step aside. I think he has been VERY opportunistic in getting the gigs that he has gotten, but he does care about the University, and he did win a Natty!

So overall, there is a lot of good, and some bad. He gave it his all, and what more can we ask? Having said that, I have heard that there is more bad that happened recently that hasn't come out yet. So, there's still a chance his legacy will get tarnished.

Two quick thoughts from the start of the VQ podcast

Hubbs said as of late last night the Dykes stuff was dead.

Price said Luke Fickell wouldn’t even talk to us. 🙄
question....no one in the TN camp would tell him that, right? and if it came from the Cincy/fickel camp, wouldn't that indicate they talked to us?

in the end, fickel has been on record about holding out for a Big 10/ND job. so i wouldn't be surprised at lack of interest.

I think Chadwell or Elliott are the right hires.

Give me Chadwell. Elliott may have a higher ceiling but he wouldn't hit the ground running the way Chadwell would. Chadwell has a plan and would execute it. It might not work as well as we want it to, but I like knowing there is a plan rather than having a guy who is learning on the fly.

My little man is 8 months old and this is spot on. You have a lot to look forward to and sleep is overrated.

There's going to be some stuff that comes out with Fulmer

Fulmer is getting his full salary as if he were fired.
Yeah, in a weird case of confluence, both can be true. It can be true that he was planning on retiring this winter, AND that he was (pretty gently) shown the door for presiding over a significant recruiting scandal.

I'm not totally convinced that's how it happened. An opposing data point is that he seemed to be trying to give Pruitt one more season to right the ship. If that were true, it would stand to reason he'd recognize the need to stay on to hold the umbrella. At least through spring camp.

So maybe it wasn't going to be this winter, maybe next spring or summer instead. But the speed with which we secured Danny White argues that it was going to be sooner than later, giving Donde Plowman a chance to be way in front of things when the alarms went off.
