Danny White has been in the office all day with SEC Athletic Director's meetings. We have now heard from multiple sources that suggest that Tony Elliott is set for a raise from Clemson and its been suggested to us that he is leaning to staying with the Tigers. So the question becomes, where does White go if that is the case? Lance Leipold? Go back and offer more money to others you have vetted and looked into? Just wanted to update you all with the things we are hearing.

With each coaching search of the last decade, it is made more clear that UT is not the coveted position that it used to be. What angers me the most about this, is that when it was the job that other coaches dreamed about, we wasted that momentum with Lane Kiffin. Each hire after that has removed us further and further from national prominence.

Yes, because we were still in the “please save us from Pruitt” phase.

People were seriously discussing Marrone as a stabilizing force.

I would want Leipold over Elliott. Proven winner. has shown he can build a team with less talent. He's the type of hire we've yet to make/try and the one that honestly makes the most sense if you can't go out and get a proven big time winner in p5.

The problem with this argument is that Georgia hasn't hired a P5 HC coach in the modern era. Florida did it with Spurrier and Mullen but not anyone in between. Auburn did it with Tuberville and Chizik. One was good; one wasn't. Alabama did it with Saban, Mike Price never coached, and Gene Stallings before that.

There is more history everywhere of hiring a coordinator or "mid major" HC. Dabo...Riley...Day...Smart...You just have to hire the correct one.

You’ve listed some nice HC hires and some nice coordinator hires. My point is that this job is such a big rebuild it would be nice to bring in someone with some real HC experience to draw from.

Bring in another coordinator and he has to rebuild a program, learn to be a CEO, while playing one of the toughest schedules annually. It’s a big jump from recruiting and calling plays.

I know this has been brought up already. And I would LOVE to be wrong. But this is going not-surprisingly like the coaching searches before. “This time we aren’t playing around with money”. Didn’t we offer Gundy 7 mil last time around? “Finally we have an AD to make the right hire!” People thought that Fulmer would lead us back to the promised land. Again, I really hope I’m wrong...

I really hope Dr. DW is able to pull off getting the players informed and the official announcement before anything leaks. Would be an incredible feat in his first week on the job considering the links we'll go to for nugz.

I believe ADW might have met his match in trying to keep secrets . He really hasn't had time to get to know the inner workings of Volnation but I believe he's getting a crash course

Agree. You have to imply the poster is an idiot not say it outright.
