I've not had menudo since I left Texas. Great for hangovers, supposedly. All I remember is my buddies family laughing at me while I'm throwing up. Me hearing "look at gringo"Married into two Hispanic families and my brother-in-law is El Paso proper. Never seen cinnamon jars in any of the laboratories. If it had ever been slipped into menudo, I would have tossed the batch. Wife hates Indian food and never detected it in Korean or Thai or any other Asian jams. I don’t feel a bit deprived.
First time I had the stuff, my sister made it while I was visiting her at Norfolk NB. That tripe seemed a sketchy ingredient. Didn’t think much of it until my in-laws made it and I learned all the refinements that go along. Lime juice, oregano and the right bread...now I’m a aficionado!
