Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Everybody waiting on another check! Don’t want to work!!!

It's that simple. You can't operate a successful capitalistic economy with socialist decision making. That animal won't hunt. Just like printing money with nothing to back its value. Eventually the bill comes due and it all collapses. People are conditioned to want all the benefits and goodies without working for them because the politicians need to pander to stay in office. Non-partisan statement BTW. They all do it.

Just like the NCAA is doing in collusion with sports media as well as professional sports owners do with the players' unions and media. The elites stay in power and own the sports world - until it all collapses. Which it will eventually.

I tend to see the football program as being 'Cleansed', but to each their own. We'll come no where close to finishing with a class that low, regardless of NCAA penalties.
What did they have to do to cleanse it? They blew it up. And we're waiting on the fallout to settle. Recruits who have better options will choose certainty over uncertainty. We will win a few battles but lose way more than usual.

We finished middle of the pack last year, a crew of unproven recruiters, and NCAA penalties yet to be announced. I think right around 30 seems about right. Time will tell though.

The attitudes I see from people, the absurdity of "woke" culture, I'm not sure how this can be considered the "best time in human history". There is a lack of real leadership in this country(and there has been for some time) and really the world. We have people living in fear of disease and violence. We have more people at each others' throats over politics. And there doesn't really seem to be a change on the horizon.

So yeah, I gotta disagree on that whole "best time" thing.

Hmm. So when was the best time?

I’d argue the 90s were pretty good.

Great sports decade. Good music. Optimism over the end of the Cold War. Booming economy. The Democrat president said the era of big government is over in a state of the union address. The leftists were bogged down in their long march through the institutions, (unlike today where they seem to hold sway over all major institutions). Vols were winning titles. Braves were winning titles. Great times!

Late response here, but folks are crazy if they think Amazon is doing this for any reason other than the fact the job pool has completely dried up. This is not a virtuous company at all.

For those not in the business world right now, let me warn you: it’s not pretty and get ready to feel it in the pocketbook.

This. Inflation is about to b**** slap the consumer in a bad way.

The 90s was definitely the peak of our culture.

yeah our office is fine, but we're in desperate need for floor workers right now. we're supposed to have 8 fork lift operators, right now we have 2. no one shows up for interviews, and the ones that do start working here only stay for a few days. it's gotten insane.

Why work for $800/wk when you can stay home and make almost the same amount?

I enjoyed the '80's and '90's. Things have been going downhill since the millennium.

Applied for my Masters again. Tried for over 10 years. Maybe this will be the time. ⛳⛳
I hope you get the tickets my man. I've got a name and number if you want to buy some tickets but they are NOT cheap. The guy rents a house just down the street from the main gate and makes a fortune selling Masters tickets. You have to give him your credit card number and return the badge to him by the end of the day if you buy a one day pass or you will be charged for the following day also. It just depends on how bad you want to attend the Masters :):). I've been 4 times and it's a great experience.

Well when this is the demographic you’re trying to hire, it’s going to be hard. No one in the replies to that disagrees. All of them talking about how a 40 hour work week should be illegal. Kills me, the best time in human history to be alive and everyone thinks they’re living in the worst.

I say it all the time..I hate the world we live in now....it is all about to crumble into chaos.

$600 a week unemployment checks for a year and a half, $1500 stimulus checks every 4 months.

Money dries up to quick. Most on unemployment should have exhausted their funds by now (iirc). Either way, I told my supervisor last night the people we are about to get are gonna be lazy and not worth a dang.

I just wish my job would do a retention bonus instead of a new hire bonus😒

Short term, yes. Longer term I think we face Japan-style deflation. The ridiculous government debt load will bog down the economy. An aging population will weigh on us. Higher unemployment and 1% economic growth is going to start becoming the norm... government will probably wish for higher inflation to inflated away the debt (since it is all dollar-denominated). ...But that’s ok. The debt will fund a “fairer” economy. ;-)

here is something I copy and pasted, but it’s pretty much how I feel.

  • A compelling story with dynamic and exciting main characters
  • Clever worldbuilding and powers for the demons and the slayers that make the battles (and even the training sequences) feel unique and engaging
  • Lots of side characters and villains that don’t feel one-dimensional, even if we’re not clear on some of their motives
  • A tremendous feel for when to build tension and when to release it
  • Talented voice-acting that evokes the right emotions with nuance, both in the tense moments and the comedic or cute ones
  • Precise storytelling pace — they spend an appropriate amount of time on all the right spots.
Dynamic characters? I can see some validity in the rest of those, but every single character has exactly one dimension and is an extreme stereotype. I thought the lack of depth and complexity in characters was the worst part of it. The evil guy is completely evil. The main character is completely good, never even considers doing anything other than the purely heroic and righteous. The goofy guy is completely goofy (except when he blacks out). That's a big reason why I tend not to like anime.

The world building and pacing was solid for sure.

Russia and China hacking into our infrastructure and big companies here is what is going to really hurt us. We Have to stop them!

Did your eyes see that mind blowing animation throughout the series? Just curious. Other than that it's intended audience is young adult, that's the type of anime it is. It's a simple story, you're just supposed to relax and to along with the main character. That's shonen anime in a nutshell.
Animation doesn't do anything for me. I'd rather have a compelling story and deep characters and clever dialog with stick figures if forced to choose.

What is the cost for a pair. I want to go to a practice round.

How’s the pay for these jobs that no one is staying for? I’m sure it’s better than the extra federal unemployment bs. But I guess folks just compare if actually working everyday is worth the few extra dollars an hour they would be making vs the federal benefit bs

I think I’m the only person in that 18-30 age group that doesn’t think that way. People I was friends with in high school hate me now because I’m openly opposed to most of the ******** they want to pass. Apparently I’m also a racist, nazi, hate the poor, am brainwashed by “American colonizer revisionist history” whatever the hell that means. And these people used to be very close friends.

The floor jobs at my facility pay 15-18 an hour to start. Think you’re capped at 22. Idk though, I’m in the office

Yeah, we build steering gears for Toyota and several other car brands. We top out at 21 in three years and still can’t get people in the door. We’ve been working 7 days a week since coming back from COVID-cation.( No really we have maybe a day or two in between) I just don’t understand why the pool has dried up.
The federal minimum wage has been eroded by decades of inaction A lot of it has to do with how poorly wages have increased over time compared to inflation/ productivity and cost of living etc.

Row the boat!!!
😂
Paddle by paddle?

Many young people go through an idealistic phase where they want everything to be fair and utopian like. I never did and it sounds like you haven't either. Most of those that do will eventually come to understand that the world isn't like that and our way of life in the US is better than anywhere else. The rest of them will become politicians and continue trying to burn it all to the ground.
