Depends on how they pronounced and their accent. Then again, I've never been offended by words/insults unless they were directed at my family, women(depending on the word/context/intent), people with disabilities or racism...especially directed at a friend or girlfriend.
I used to date a really hot mixed girl from Powell(1/4 black, 3/4 white). Black dudes in Knoxville would give her shite for dating a white guy but that didn't bother me. White people giving us shite because of her race had me ready to fight. Below is a pic taken of her at a photo shoot she did in 2013...younger normal pic below that. Sadly, she dropped dead in her late 20's from a blood clot in her lung.

****, didnt see that man. Thanks for heads up, was being an ass as thought you were chest thumping about past girl. my bad.
Mahatma Gandhi was a peculiar person. He walked barefoot everywhere, to the point that his feet became quite thick and hard. He often went on hunger strikes, and even when he wasn't on a hunger strike, he did not eat much and became quite thin and frail. He also was a very spiritual person. Finally, because he didn't eat much and when he did his diet was peculiar, he developed very bad breath.
This made him A: super-calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.
I like the kid, I hope he has a great career. I wish Jordan could pull his head back out of his tail. Those two are my favorite young guys, I am not a fan of Koepkake, Dumbchambeau or Rahm and their attitudes and personality. I would like to see Wolf, Schauffele and Berger kick it up a notch and do well. I have given up hope in Fowler, but I really like him, I always pull for him.Morikawa was unstoppable
All good....and I get where you were coming from. Realized it was cringey and a little unnecessary to my point after I posted it. I also regret not being nicer to her while alive so kinda struck a nerve....that's a me issue, though.
I am sick of this crap.Guess it depends on the history of how a word has previously been used, as to how they will perceive you using it. Even if you didn't mean anything by it, "Jap" has often been used in a derogatory way in the past. And sometimes there's just not a clear answer either, like "are you Jewish" vs "are you a Jew"...mileage may vary depending on the person or context.
I had a friend who passed from the same thing. Young, zero health issues, and boom, dropped dead from a blood clot. She was beautiful, young, and 7 months pregnant.
Her husband gave her CPR until the medics arrived and took over. The baby was delivered at the hospital.
Sorry for your loss dude. Blood clots are kind of terrifying.
Thank you. We kept in touch a little over the years, mainly telling each other about big life events...my marriage, kids born....I introduced her to Three Six Mafia when we were young and she was excited to be a dancer in one of their videos they filmed in Knoxville. She also worked at the UT library. It came out of nowhere and I know her mom and current boyfriend were devastated. Scary that you can go young with no warning.
Very sorry to hear about your friend. Very bittersweet moment for her husband. Joy of being a father and heartbreak of losing his wife. Glad the baby survived.
It should be, but it's not. People are people and trying enforce some kumbaya ideal is only making things worse. It should be enough to treat everyone with kindness and fairness.
I am not dedicating limited gray matter for the purpose of cataloging every conceivable way in which someone can be offended.
