I didn't start it but I was there with the poster that did start it when the two of us handed his widow the check. Richrollins was a personal friend who I met when our kids started playing youth football together. Very proud of Volnation for what they did for that family.

It actually pisses me off that they are even there. Russia was supposed to be banned from these Olympics because of doping, but their athletes were allowed to compete under the Olympic flag or something. I mean if you are banned, then I would think no one should be able to compete from that nation. JMO

Team Russia was banned from the Games. Why are Russians still winning?

If the current Russian athlete’s aren’t one of the ones that were doping and are currently not doping, there’s no reason they shouldn’t compete.

If the current Russian athlete’s aren’t one of the ones that were doping and are currently not doping, there’s no reason they shouldn’t compete.

I guess I believe if you are banned from the Olympics, you should be banned from the Olympics. What kind punishment is it to let them still compete?

I can’t say that I have read everything on it, but my understanding is that Russia manipulated data and covered up lab results that prevented the investigation from learning all athletes. So, we don’t exactly know if current athletes are involved. It was an elaborate scheme run by the state, so there shouldn’t be much sympathy.

The Russians literally try to cheat and defraud at many things.

I can’t say that I have read everything on it, but my understanding is that Russia manipulated data and covered up lab results that prevented the investigation from learning all athletes. So, we don’t exactly know if current athletes are involved. It was an elaborate scheme run by the state, so there shouldn’t be much sympathy.

Their government sucks (but frankly, what government doesn’t?), but the athletes who work their tails off and work their entire life towards a one month period- they should be given ample opportunity. If they cheat, ban the athletes. The ones that are doing it the correct way however should be allowed to compete. That is like our Olympians being punished for something Biden or Trump did.

Sidenote: it’s like college football- I have no doubt that USA has cheated in the past and will continue to find ways to bend rules, etc. just like our Vols do.

They didn't ban the government of Russia because they're a bad government. They banned them because the government was helping the athletes dope. So the athletes were the ones cheating with help from their country, but the country's flag is the only thing that got banned. The athletes that were doping get a free pass and almost certainly continued doping because their government continues to prevent outside agencies from testing them.

I’d suggest reading more on it if you haven’t. It was pretty elaborate and been going on a while. I would guess the athletes knew what was going on. That’s the thing though- we don’t know who is doing it correctly. Just not something I would condone.
