What do people think of Tony B? I'm a big fan but I feel like I remember reading where a lot don't really care for him.

I like Tony a lot, but I can understand why he’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

I think it helps if you’ve spent significant time listening to sports radio in big professional sports markets.

We did with Vitello so the assumption is we would.

Exactly.

Just because incompetents have done the hiring at UT and blown it in football, it does not mean this bunch will. In fact, it appears this AD is quite good at it based on his history.

But let's assume he isn't. Even Bahama John knew immediately to hire Voltello. Voltello was "the" assistant coach - that guy - on the rise in the SEC that everybody knew about. For that matter, even Bama Dave knew to hire Barnes immediately even though he was already a thing.

If you take a close look at Heup's history and background of success with QB's and offenses in general, you know you have the current version of Steve Spurrier. Both successful as a players at the QB position. SS got his feet wet being a HC at Duke just like Heup at UCF. UF went out and hired SS. UT went out and hired Heup.

Heup's coach hirings on defense tells me he has that same drive to succeed and kick the opponents' azzes, just a different personality more suited for today's game and with the players. He went out and hired proven guys on D. What does that tell us? Those assistants trusted the UT administration, situation and Heup for the the success of their careers because they had other options for employment. One is unquestionably elite in CRG to go with DC Banks who has a long history and elite coaching status in the secondary. When you lock up proven assistant coaches like he has on the side of the ball you need help from, you are on the road to being successful.

I think we’ve all witnessed the singular impact a quarterback can make on the rest of a football team. We’ve just witnessed it acting as a cinderblock. If this really starts clicking, I think we may see what it looks like when it acts like a rocket ship.
@Geaux_Vols Got me ready for the season!

Tony B is a common fan and can act as such because he is not under the thumb of anyone being his own boss. He can say things that others around town can't because of that. He is refreshing to me.

Wow...my wife was just leaving to go to work and a huge bear was dragging garbage out of our dumpster so I went out and ran it off...we have known it was doing this occasionally for several months, and we have seen his tracks in the mud where we had a new septic system put in a few months ago after a rain, but this is the first time we caught him doing it. It is one of the biggest black bears I have ever seen 😳😳😳😳
I once freed a black bear trapped in a dumpster. Took me a while to figure out what the racket was. Opened the dumpster hatch from the side and the bear popped out like a Jack in the Box and then ambled off stopping briefly to cast one glance back at me over its shoulder.

I say start feeding it and eventually train it to be your guard bear. Absolutely nothing could go wrong with this plan.

People can complain all they want, Jalen Hurd was the best running back UT has had since Travis Stephens. If he had stayed he would have shattered all the records.
Lmao. Yes because he was a volume runner. He only averaged 4.5 YPC...less than Ty Chandler did. And he was getting worse each season until his 3rd year...3.7 YPC woof. He was the 3rd best rusher on his own team once AK showed up.

When watching TN Prime yesterday, I came away with a strong impression that Joe Milton is a team first type of guy.

From the answer he gave about the NIL and when Swain asked him about what type of legacy he wants to leave behind at UT.

Joe also talked about how the whole Michigan fiasco humbled him...hope he lights it up this year
Same. Excited about seeing him play and lead the team. Sounds like he's been the leader since he set foot on campus.

i think one of the biggest things Joe Milton will benefit from is not having to think as much. That goes such a long way. For example, we will lineup using these really wide splits to make teams defend the entire width of the field. Basically if youre a LB you have to declare whether youre going to be a box player or stay to pass coverage principles because you cant just sit there. So its easier to read for a QB ultimately bc the defense was forced to show their hand. The entire veer and shoot philosophy is to give consistent deep shots to your WRs and QB RPOs in order to keep the defense from getting numbers in the box. Obviously if the numbers are favorable then you get hit with the run game. Its super simple but its all deadly.
