He's a West Coast guy and has played/coached on the West Coast his entire life. All his connections are there. Making new connections from the West Coast into the South, much less the SEC, isn't some small thing. Not saying it is impossible, but it doesn't scream "great fit" at first glance.

All that being said, again, he's a top 5 coach in the country. Homerun hire, without question.

We don't need smoke. We need an interview. Sounds like somebody is reporting we're getting that.

I'm not really getting excited about anybody anymore. At this point I'm tired of talking about it. Just want to see who we get so we can move ahead.

If Fulmer is really getting an interview with Petersen though that's pretty awesome. Anything is possible I suppose.

And it is absolutely harder to get elite talent to Seattle than it is to get it to Knoxville.

Washington as a state produces maybe 3-4 blue-chip guys a year. And there's nowhere close by to recruit from. Los Angeles is 17 hours away and NorCal is 13 hours away.

I know where you are coming from, but there is a ton of talent in California, Washington, Arizona, Oregon, etc. Driving distances don't really apply out West like they do on the East Coast. Let's not kid ourselves that he is only allowed to recruit in the Pacific NW or where you can drive in a day.

I do agree that UT probably has a higher ceiling ultimately, not to mention the $$$, and the SEC is obviously where it is at, but it's not like some huge difference like with Patterson at TCU or a coach in that type of situation. UW is a legit big time program.

Won't suck me into Peterson until I see lws or hubbs mention it. Brice can be all over the place. Sec mike just reads message board and other sites articles

Yeah I get that. I think most smart people realize cities like Knoxville aren't necessarily the sticks though. We need to get Petersen a visit to campus and show it off.

If he wants to prove himself with a full deck on the biggest stage against the best teams, this is the job.

Lol at you guys thinking we're getting anything other than a very low chance for success coach. This will be yet another roll of the dice. The only good thing is I am convinced it will be better than Butch Jones. Don't get your hopes up for a wow hire. You'll just open your legs for another swift kick to the man jewels.
