pruitt is going to want his team to be a physical, hard-nosed bunch that plays aggressively and makes plays on both sides of the ball.
Multiple assistant coaches have said they want to build the vols into the kind of team nobody wants to play at home or away. You do that by recruiting elite talent and having better players than the other team. You bolster the talent with a relentless style of play.
This is pruitt's first spring and his first chance to establish what kind of program he wants to build at tennessee. There's no reason to expect tennessee's new staff to cut corners or pull back on the reins due to the roster situation.
Changing the culture has to start now by establishing how practices are going to be from the standpoints of intensity and how you practice.
Pruitt believes you can have physical practices that also minimize the risk of injury by keeping players off the ground and managing how contact is handled. Certainly tennessee will be thin this spring with limited numbers on the offensive line, and the vols will have to manage the situation and monitor the recovery of those players. But it's no time to play it safe.
