I don't think he'd set the woods on fire here either. Would have been another guy that the fans would have had to talk themselves into, whereas with Pruitt I think most fans who are informed don't have to talk themselves into believing he'll work like they did with Dooley and Jones.
This. The "talking ourselves into" part is what's so drastically different with Pruitt, and why I'm more convinced of his success than anyone since Fulmer.
Remember...
Lane Kiffin: "Well he's an offensive genius and c'mon the guy had to work for Al Davis..." Not saying it's not true, but that's not an auto-qualifier for a top-6 SEC job.
Dooley: "Well, he got LaTech to an 8-win season, and that's as he split his time as the AD. He's got the pedigree" (the last name.. :/ )
Butch: "He's only known success everywhere he's been (nevermind that he was following up a more successful coach at each of his previous stops).. Antonio Brown! Marty Gilyard!"
Pruitt's the real deal, and Fulmer knew it immediately. Saban, Richt, and Jimbo knew it. Every last one of his players knew it. The fans at all of his previous stops knew it. And then he hires the best damn position coaches from the best damn conference-- none of this MAC/C-USA crap. The only non-SEC position coaches are Coach YAC from my alma mater Memphis, where we've been throwing for miles the last four years, and Helton from USC, like the real USC, with a real QB, OL, and offensive system USC.
I'm sorry, I don't know what just got into me. I'm pumped.
