Why do we look so terrible when we play them? It really is mind boggling.

I think the problem vs UF is multifaceted.

Spurrier ran a scheme that gave Fulmer fits for years so they quickly developed a psychological edge. Fulmer started to even the score a bit from 2001-2004 but Urban Meyer quickly squashed that.

Since 2010 or so both programs have been searching for the answer but the Gators never seem to fall as far as us. They always have a little more talent and the psychological edge never went away. We also play them early in the season when they usually have a lot of confidence and it’s our first conference game.

Plus all of our coaches know the history of the game and desperately want to win that one while they are getting established, which in actuality makes us even more likely to lose. They coach tight and the players play tight.

I know. We’re so close and yet so far. I had no idea things could possibly get this bad after I felt Butch had more or less stabilized the ship. But then he ran it right into a reef. And set it on fire.
