It's not a done deal. There have been no formal interviews. They're going to interview multiple candidates, and it won't be limited to women or coaches with connections to Pat. There will be unhappy fans no matter which way they go, so they're just trying to find the best fit for the program going forward.

It's a shame the timing of this is taking away from the BasketVols. They deserve the focus this week. Winning tonight is gonna be sweet!

Right - I’m with you that it’s not a done deal. My guess is Healy got that scoop because we reached out to Walz about the opening and Louisville got wind of it.

It’s going to be really interesting to see what kind of coaches are interested in the job. This is the first true coaching search in program history.

I'm sure there'll be a lot of interest. It's an opportunity that has never been available before-- and hopefully won't be available again for a long time. A lot of former players want someone with ties to the program. But it might be better to move away from that.

Honestly I kinda hate that former players feel it necessary to put in their opinion.

I wish more of them just trusted the university and made blanket statements like, "UT has a great program and AD I will fully support any hire they make since I know they'll have the best interest of the team in mind when hiring a candidate."
