The best day of UT football in...15 years? Great comeback. I was on 247 that day and just kept telling everyone to stick with the team and cheer hard AF if they were at the game. We were gaining yards and moving the ball, just making small mistakes and turnovers in the first half. I could tell we were way more in the game than the score indicated, just like uga 2015/16. The 2nd half was cathartic as hell, especially after 2015. I was rolling around on the floor like a maniac all 2nd half.

How did you all experience this game?

I get what you are saying to some extent but it is easier to keep momentum than it is to generate it. The sky isn't falling but there is some reason for concern.
To be fair, I was satirizing the viewpoint that it’s too early to be concerned about momentum. I think you are dead on.

Now I can’t say for sure if the staff is feeling the lack of momentum, but if they are, there are a lot of folks on here who can tell them it’s not too important because it’s only May.

On the field. Was legit wondering if we would storm the field. Best atmosphere since i had been with UT in 09

If we had 20 commitments we’d be freaking out about how many spots were left.

We can freak out about too many spots, too few spots or no spots. We can freak out about who is occupying those spots and if they are worth a spot and who might not get a spot because someone who shouldn't have a spot has one... or might get one. Finding things to freak out about is no problem at all.

Well VN was founded by a guy named Freak, so...

Still a bit surprised we didn't, but I guess we were also up by 10 with a yard away from a 17 point win and we dominated the entire 2nd half. It was still too close for all of us that know the luck we've had vs UF, but I guess it wasn't a nailbiter enough to rush the field, throw the goalpost in the river, etc haha

What record does TN need in 2019 for you guys to feel like we've turned the corner and are on the right track? I'm thinking 8-4 with a bowl win to 9-4 would really start recruiting momentum.

I'm very glad the fans did not rush the field given the way 2016 turned out.

Every time I see the great highlights from this game, I keep thinking, I wish TN was in the orange jerseys rather than those greys.

7 wins MINIMUM. Anything less is an abject failure. I would feel pretty damn good going 8-4 and tacking on a bowl win.

6-6 would be fine with me but i would need to see at least 8-4 in year 3 to not write off Pruitt.

7-5 really isn’t asking much. Going 4-0 ooc/3-5 sec or 3-1 ooc/4-4 SEC should be what we do barring injuries

Sooo Tennessee goes winless in the SEC the year prior to Jeremy Pruitt.... we win two SEC games last year under Pruitt as a first time head coach and somehow the sky is almost falling? Give me a freaking break already good lord.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying this to be needlessly negative or contrarian.

There is no corner to turn this year. "Turning the corner" usually happens when at least half of the rebuild has been completed, making the rest of the work to get to national relevance easier.

This time last year, they were still applying nametags to parking spaces.

First season, there were some good highs, but more lows, as we all expected.

This offseason was the best I can remember. But one offseason doesn't build the program, definitely not to the level that we want to be.

Next season, 8 wins (regular season) is our absolute ceiling. We just haven't had time to get bigger, stronger, and accumulate depth in the trenches.

2020 will be a better season to frame this question with.

EDIT:
Actually kind of rethinking my response, I guess I just answered the question with pessimism.

I said the absolutely ceiling will be 8 wins. I guess if we hit 8 wins, that'd be basically turning the corner. Recruiting will be easier. Buy-in will be better. We'll be on our way quicker.

I say the defense will be humming this season. When you have a solid defense you tend to find yourself in some ball games. That's when Pruitt will either come into his own or try again next year.

I don't think our defense will be humming.

Replacing 5 of our top 6 DL, and breaking in a couple/few young LBs. I have a lot of confidence in Gooden and Reid, and I the front-7 will be solid. Replacing almost an entire 2-deep is pretty difficult to overcome, and a little too much for me to think they'll flip the field a whole lot.

When you start worrying about replacing Paul Bain it may be time to take a break.
