I think he may need a boss in order to excel. I think maybe you almost need to be a bit of an entrepreneur to be successful as a head coach. Most people who are exceptionally good at their job fail when trying to go into business for themselves.

One of the biggest knocks I've heard on Jeremy is that he doesn't work well with people. By most accounts his players love him but the same isn't always said about his co-workers. His reluctance to pick starters for the game Saturday I think may be out of his desire to keep as many players happy as he can. Everyone brings an apple for Jeremy. jmo.
I'm not saying this is the case with cjp but in the corporate world people get promoted to their level of incompetence all the time. I've seen it happen a thousand times people start at the bottom and work their way to the top and some people just aren't cut out for that top job. Hope that's not what's happening with cjp

So what helps you move on from the debacle of a Georgia State?

For me...

1. Everyone in the program shutting their mouths. I don’t care what they have to say. Just shut up.

2. Beat BYU by two scores. Then we can have some confidence that Georgia State was an absolute aberration and not a foreboding of things to come.

I think the GSU loss either causes the team to lay down for the rest of the year or get pissed off and actually play better than they would have. It just depends on whether the team has any competitive drive and will to win. Or even a will to not be embarrassed.

In noon presser, Pruitt still acts like they did not know what GaState was going to do on offense. That is ridiculous. They brought in a new OC and anyone who took time to look at spring film or film of the new OC at his previous school knew what they were going to run. They were running same offense Appy State ran against Vols a few years ago. It gave us fits then with ball control and it beat us Saturday.
Bottom line: Staff did not prepare team to play GaState. They blew them off, so players did not take them seriously.

I'm pretty down on this staff but am past the point of wanting to fire coaches for lack of success. It hasnt worked in the past and it wont work in the future. We should give him at least 3 years. If we are trash after that then let's see. But we better be 4-8 next year to consider a move (and we better have a known winner on the line..... which we wont).

If we hit 4-8 this year, I'm sorry, I'm out.

If we go 5-7, okay that's no progress, but maybe it's just the churn between youth and 2017 kids. Fling the transfer portal wide tf open, and show that class that the getting's good. Let whoever on the coaching staff go, who wants to leave. Get a fresh start for a 7-5 2020 campaign.

Basically, this loss set our program back a full year IMO. But we knew it was going to be a slog.

I posted Saturday night--

Mike Leach went 3-9 in his third year at WSU. Lost to Portland State week1 of his fourth year on the way to a 9-4 overall record.

Michigan lost to Appalachian State, went 9-4 that year.

This is a wake-up call. Whether or not the team has woken up will be found out next Saturday.

Lol you don’t “game prep” for teams like Georgia state. You work on yourself and 90% of the time. Get a feel for what their sets and personnel grouping are and go from there.

Spurrier said publicly that they wouldn’t even watch film on teams like that. Lol

We shouldn’t have been playing musical chairs with the OL all camp then randomly deciding to move banks back to LB. not recruiting juco and DL that are tremendously out of shape. Lol.

There’s so much more wrong than game prep week for GA state
Coach Pruitt,is that you? We dont have the luxury not to prep for teams. A first time head coach in his 2nd year doesn't have that luxury either.

That Michigan team had a lot of talent to bounce back on.

I’m not sure there’s a position group that stacks up with anyone in the conference except maybe WR

It sucks that the humiliating loss had to happen to Pruitt. Butch nearly lost to South Alabama and UMass and Dooley nearly lost to UAB and Troy. We've been flirting with disaster for a while in those games and it finally caught up with us.

Nothing implied with the "OK". Just nothing left to be said. I believe that both our coaches should have been fired one year earlier. I don't believe McElwain or any other coach completely gave up as both our coaches did. No sense in dragging a discussion out any further Bruin style.
I don't even think we're that far off 🤷‍♂️
Agreeing on timeline, though I can only go by hindsight, no sources.
Just can't make declarations about what happened at other schools. The gator posters said there was behind the scenes stuff there also. Just don't think we're so different about that kind of stuff than other places.

Good post.

Weird stuff happens. Still feel like crap, but maybe we get lucky. We’re certainly due for it...

I’m in agreement with many of you...

We treated this like a scrimmage.
Pruitt and the staff took the completely wrong approach. Instead of playing vets / experience early, getting a lead and then working younger guys, they got cute and played about 9 different OL and DL in the 1st quarter.
They didn’t scheme / game plan.

They didn’t take the game seriously in the sense that they at no point considered the possibility of a loss. To me, that’s just flat out inexperience.

I think 🤞🏼 GaSt was an aberration.
I think we win 6-7 games instead of 7-8 because obviously we counted GaSt as a win.

Or maybe I’m just way to optimistic.

True, but they bounced back (at least somewhat). If we can bounce back from this and make a bowl at 6-6, that'd be a big swing from where we are now.
