Another thought I had during the game - Jimmy Holiday is gonna house a kickoff return this year
I agree. He had some nice returns tonight, and got the offense in good position to start several drives. You could tell he was chomping at the bits on the ones he didn’t get to run back too. I’d like to see what he could do with more touches on offense, but the offense is so loaded and already moving the ball so well, it’s hard to argue to change anything up.

On a more serious note though, I just sit here tonight happy as hell, what DW and CJH have done in two short years is nothing short of remarkable. This is the second win over Florida since 2004, but this one feels different than 2016. Florida threw everything they had today at the Vols and the good guys still found a way to win. The Vols were simply better today. Its satisfying to see a tough gritty team overcome adversity and pull out a win like that. I know theyll never see this, but to DW and CJH thank you for putting a team on the field we Vol fans can be proud of.

Average SEC secondary: 10-11 wins.

The secondary from today: 8-9 wins.

Tim Banks and Willie Martinez need to spend the rest of the weekend soul searching and figure something out.

I can't put it all on the players. I just can't imagine they aren't being told to give these massive cushions. Playing like every WR has Covid mixed with bubonic aids.

When I started the year picking us at 8-4, I was assuming we’d inevitably have key injuries, testing our depth, and that the defense would only marginally improve from the Purdue game, because it was still largely the same players. If we end this year with 8-9 wins and those two things are culprits, we’ve met my expectations.

I agree we need to fix the defense but I can’t judge the coaches yet because I still don’t think we have great talent there. It’s Year 2 of a rebuild after all.

Go Vols!

You gotta start zone matching though… you can just sit there and get picked apart. That’s defensive backs bad coaching… whenever I saw trevon flowers try to speed turn to catch up with the receiver on the outside only to not contest it at all… lost a lot of trust in Martinez…. Banks gotta get someone else if he wants to keep his job in the future.

We knew that the secondary was the weak spot to start the year. We will upgrade it over time.

And every person ive spoken too, projected 8-9 wins.

10-11 would be an amazing coaching job.

When play collapsed and Hooker got behind a blocker for a big gain.🤘🏻 That move from right to left is sick.

I def dont think he's near the runner Dobbs is/was. Dobbs was a RB who could throw. Ive never seen a UT QB who could run like that, and make guys miss. Truly a talented player, sneaky fast. Hendon throws a prettier, more catcheable ball. But on that run he sure did make me think of the Dobber.

Hooker cracks me up sometimes because, although he and Dobbs are similarly mobile, they take hits completely different. I think I can count on one hand the number of times Dobbs got squared up on a scramble whereas every time Hooker scrambles and gets hit, he just gets ****ing annihilated lol.

I think Dobbs was just that much more dynamic. He had a wiggle to him. Guys just bounced off of him.

Dobbs knew when to take a hit, esp around the goal line.

Yeah, he was just so slick. I think the game against App State around the goal line was the one time I remember him just getting blown up iirc.
