I don’t think Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, Butch Jones, or Jeremy Pruitt played college football at the level that Heupel did (Heisman runner-up on a National Championship team). That’s the biggest of the big stages as far as college football goes.

We routinely saw Kiffin, Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt either wilt in the face of that spotlight, or not show up at all.

It doesn’t seem to phase Heupel and I would have to guess that has MAJOR carryover to the attitude and effectiveness of the team.
Dooley is a coaches son turned lawyer, turned football coach. Butch played clarinet. Pruitt played at mtsu, and transferred to Bama as a walk on. Kiffin was a stand up comedian with a show on comedy central.

You may be in to something....

Confused.

Did people lose their notifications or likes. Or both?

I have both of mine. But that's also why ya pay for the Platinum VIP Frank Club membership.

How many notifications do you have? My assumption is it really only took away notifications from posters with over a certain amount of likes. There’s other people with under 10k that didn’t lose theirs 🤷🏻‍♂️

Heupel really seems to be flourishing on the big stage. Both Pitt and FL were huge hurdles for his program to overcome. Offense was stagnant, defense won you a top 20 matchup on the road. FL comes to town and of course their QB looks legit all the sudden, HH puts on his superhero cape and announces his Heisman candidacy. Winning those games is so important bc as bought in as guys seemed to be before, imagine the loyalty and buy-in in that locker room now. And the FL win really changed the way everyone looks at Heupel’s program, especially recruits.

I know it doesn’t always work out this way but I believe that Heupel’s playing days are of a huge benefit for him. He seems very confident and he knows what it takes to win at the highest level bc he did it as a player. You never really know how a coach will do when the lights are the brightest. We’ve seen many a coach here at UT where the moment has been too big. Not our coach. It just feels like this level of college football is where he belongs.

Kudos to Heup and kudos to DW for giving us Heup.
I have thought about this ever since I heard Kesling the other day on the radio, talking about Heupel...talking about how he doesn't get rattled, how nothing throws him off his game...

FSU was a double digit favorite the night Heupel and company beat them for the National Championship. As you said, the moment is never going to be too big for him; he's been there, crushed that. And, while no, he didn't have some Herculean game that night, he was steady. Of the game he said, "We don't care what the media or odds makers think, we believe in ourselves." I guarantee he's still sending that same exact message, in some variation, 20 years later.

I think he knows what the ceiling is, and knows he's at or pretty close to it. This could be a bit of a hot take but I think Nebraska has a higher ceiling.

I don’t think you’re wrong that it may have a higher ceiling, but Lane Kiffin is far from a fit in Lincoln. He would absolutely hate it there in my opinion. Fanbase loyalty, sure. I get that. But Lane Kiffin and Lincoln, Nebraska would be like water and oil. They just don’t mix.

After he ran his mouth crapping all over the baseball program I don’t care even a little what he has to say about anything.
Yeah I've never actually listened to his show. But judging from what I've seen on Twitter and in various clips, I don't think I'm missing anything.

So I treat him like MSNBC. If I don't listen to it, it doesn't exist. 👍

I like looking back on good times, and also learning from the past; but, I've never been much for "what could have been"...however, imo...Huepel IS 14-3 as our HC right now.

Just remember, you non-notification checking people were ruining everyone's VN experience.
😁

I know this seems random, but I think Kiffin would be smart to jump to Nebraska if offered. That's a loyal fanbase and if he can get them back to a ranked team they would come close to loving him as much as his own ego does.
I'd wait for the Auburn job, if I were him.

I have a question, brought on by a conversation at work the other day: how do YOU do your biscuits and gravy??

Me, I split the biscuits, add 3 over easy eggs (hashbrowns also work well here if available), coat liberally with chunky sausage gravy, top with hot sauce (whatever I have at hand, usually Louisiana Hot Sauce cause I like the flavor better), and down the hatch.

One of my coworkers doesn't split their biscuits and just puts the gravy down. My wife puts strawberry jelly on her biscuits before adding the gravy. Cool, to each their own.

The truck driver that was in the waiting area (and was part of the conversation).....y'all......if I prayed, this fella would be #1 on my prayer list. This dude point blank looked at me and my coworkers and said "the only way I can do biscuits and gravy is with the gravy on the side so I can break up my biscuits and dip them in the gravy". I AIN'T NEVER HEARD SOMEONE SAY THAT, did I miss a memo or something??
You 100% absolutely have to split the biscuits. Gravy on top with a considerable amount of salt and black pepper. Hot sauce if I am feeling it that day.

what could have been has been all we've had for the better part of 15 years.

so i'm all for being excited for "what is". and looking forward to it being "and what shall be".
