I always gave him the benefit of the doubt bc he had a difficult home life….. I wasn’t talking about meal plans though….. The football players were well compensated during Phil’s time on the hill…I always felt his anger was misguided.Never said "food" lol. They all have meal plans ofc. 4th meals. Aka food outside of the regular hours for guys burning ungodly calories per day and need fuel. It was absurd. He pointed it out. Glad you're an Arian fan too. Guy really blew up late in his career, was pretty wild to see it. He started off dang slow.
So basically a non-profit conspired with him to fund the USM project. They paid him $1.1M for speaking engagements for their charity. Those funds came from their wiring welfare money. He never did those speaking events. Then he only paid out I think $60,000 to the construction of the USM facility and pocketed the rest.Ooof. Even worse. I can’t read the article you posted because I don’t have a sub, but I’m going off tweets I saw about the situation and other articles. The context I was referring to with the emails, and maybe what you’re talking about are later discussions after this one, but the president and governor basically told him what was going to happen to get the charity funds to the school and Favre essentially asking if the funds could be traced or something to that effect, and they said it wasn’t public knowledge that could be obtained or something along these lines. So in that exchange I took it as they are all sleazy AF and if what you’re saying about him pocketing some is true then he is the sleaziest of the 3. Awful **** all around though.
Edit: can’t find the exchange I read about on Twitter, but saw some more about him even wanting to take welfare money to fund more projects for his daughters school. ****ing scum man.
Yeah Beasley needs to go another lap around the sun. I think he will get drafted with another season. He's been pretty impressive so far this year.Good post. Losing Mohan hurts our LB depth next year but with us typically only having 2 LBs on the field at a time, his loss is somewhat mitigated. I think Elijah Herring will step into to a starting role alongside Beasley and be very good. Reports on him have been very positive and he has flashed when on the field. Good size, good speed and very good instincts. He is much further along as a true freshman than Beasley was until this year and Banks was until last year. Not sure Perry is ever more than a body.
I think Smith can come in and immediately be our 3rd LB next year....I don't care about his rating, he is one of the best LB recruits in the country and already has the size to play. Telander has the instincts to learn quickly and be in the two deep by his sophomore year. I think we need at least one SEC level guy from the portal or grad transfer and I also think we land another high 3 or 4 star level LB recruit. That would theoretically give us a solid 2 deep and some good potential to build with. We will be in a bad spot if Beasley makes a bad decision and declares for the draft but I doubt that happens.
We are going to be nasty on the edge and at DB in a couple of years with the talent we are bringing in.
