Part of me agrees but I also think we would have gotten torched on the ground if we were as aggressive on D against UF like were were against Pitt. We played the odds based on Richardson not having shown the ability to beat you in the passing game. Unfortunately our DBs were pretty awful and UF torched them but, other than some horrible tackling in the first half, most of the damage UF did was very late in the game when they were down by 3 scores.
We had strategic moments of bringing pressure that worked....late INT being a great example. It was frustrating at times but it was a winning strategy and we absolutely shut down their run game which was the strength of their offense. Putting DBs on islands while blitzing Richardson and giving him an opportunity to make plays with his legs would have been a losing strategy, IMO. He would have gotten past the second level and shredded our slow, poor tackling secondar....especially the safeties. We will be able to play aggressive more consistently when we have more talent, especially at DB and LB.
