An update from the Robbi-Garrett poker scandal from last week. Apparently a crewmember was caught taking $15k chips off of her (the alleged cheater's) stack. This is so fishy and makes me think cheating is more likely for sure. Quite a lot of coincidence iyam.
Josh Heupel was 7-5 his first year as OU's QB in 1999, after 12 years of being terrible.
The following year they started 4-0 before their first ranked match in a brutal stretch of 4 games vs #11 Texas. They won that game 63-14.
The following game they faced #2 Kansas State and won 41-31.
The very next game, they faced #1 Nebraska, a team they lost to by a score of 69-7 the last time they played. They won this time, 31-14 to become 7-0 on the year.
Two weeks later, they played and defeated #23 Texas A&M 35-31.
This sounds a whole lot like what's happening at UT right now. Finished last year 7-5 in the regular season. Start this year 4-0 and then face a brutal 4 game stretch of top 25 games, including battles with the #1, #2, #25 & #13 teams.
Could history repeat itself?
Heupel had meetings with his teammates after the 1st season, putting out his plan on how they are going to win each game and finish as National Champions. After the past 13 years as a mediocre or bad team, no one ever expected they would win a national title, but Heupel believed it and prepared for it, the same as he's doing here.
Heupel is also in his 2nd year as HC, the same as Stoops @ OU when they won the title back then.
*this is pretty much a synopsis of an article in "The Athletic". It's not word for word, just my interpretation of the article.
I just want to win....and not while making Daniels look like a Heisman finalist. If our pass defense had been just a few plays less porous against Pitt and Florida, then nobody would be picking LSU to win.So what I am hearing is obviously you believe:
15-0
It is time to put down all the sabanites, neuter the dawgs, show kelly why he had it so good at nd.
I want the game to be so lopsided this Saturday that the announcers are shown eating food from the French Quarter in the start of the 3rd quarter…get food poisoning immediately and there’s no announcer at all for the rest of the game.
one of the very few home games I had to miss back then…. I really wish that I could have been there…. Bet it was a crazy night.
Dr. Punch said the surgery Tillman had usually turns that high ankle sprain into about a 6-8 week turnaround. He did say though that if it's not a pad sprain (meaning not as much ligament tearing) the recovery from it would be quicker.
Tua wash rushed back from his and being he plays QB where he has less need to plant and change directions it was easier.
Don't know the exact day Tillman had the surgery so not sure if this is week 2 or 3 of his recovery. I have a feeling that the goal was to try and get him back for Bama.
There are 3 scenarios at play this week.
1. We lose a heartbreaker
2. We win a stressful close game
3. We blow their damn doors off
2 out of 3 aint bad
Where's the outcry, @Jack Burton ???
Think LSU "should have to play in an empty stadium" because they're so "toxic" and "trash"?
Why don't you go ask your buddies at ESPN, or your pals Adams or Ubben, where their "outrage" is, huh.
GOD takes care of fools and drunks and there's angels everywhere. Here's to living right! When I was a student at Tennessee, Tennessee-LSU was a home game. Was raining just like this. I was on crutches due to a badly sprained ankle. It was so bad that I couldn’t bear weight on it yet. (Walking boots hadn’t been invented yet) Coming back to my seat, going up the stadium stairs in the lower student section, my crutches both slid out from under me at the same time. I was headed face first into the concrete steps, happened so quickly that I didn’t have time to release the crutches. At 2” from a brutal face plant, I stopped in the air. Then I was put back up on my feet. A group of some of the drunkest students on either side of the stairs all caught me simultaneously. It was truly awesome. Half of them could barely speak due to inebriation, but they were lightning fast in their response. I think that my guardian angels stepped in and took control. Only explanation for the quick coordinated effort required to do that. I was sober because of the rain and crutches.
It’s likely that some of you older VN Morans were those students ( or more likely, your parents or grandparents). Just wanted to thank everyone involved in saving me that day!
The year was 1982. Game ended in a 24-24 tie.
This year shall be known as the Year of the Curse Breaker in future Tennessee Football Lore. LSU is the next opponent to feel the wrath of these Tennessee Volunteers.
It’s time for The Curse Breakers to destroy the evil put upon us in the 2001 SECCG. Just one more down in our journey to:
15-0
