I still think he's a great coach. Most programs ebb and flow with their success. He either loves Ames or he wasn't offered a good setup and waited.

He may simply be that rare kind that loves to coach in that environment. Watched a couple of his games this year, and he is definitely engaged in his role.

It will take care of itself. If we lose, well, we'll probably drop. If we win we maintain control of our own destiny.

Either way....I think we can call this season a resounding success. I am literally just happy to be here... Beating rivals. Playing meaningful games in November for conference and national title implications.

I'm pretty sure he ran it 12 straight on that final TD drive. I could be wrong though...hell it was 36 years ago.

Edit: Just searched and LWS posted it on YT...so I'm gonna go watch it. Talk about nostalgia...that was three weeks after my first wedding....lord I am old 😞

And now if he keeps losing at Iowa State they will end firing him...he will be a victim of his own success. They will not show him the same loyalty he showed them.

Now he will have to crank out a few more 9-10 win seasons at that hellhole for his name to get mentioned for big openings.

I honestly don't know whether to admire him, pity him or make fun of him.

I think he is a really good coach...no way he has had the seasons he has had at that bottom feeder otherwise.
