It should show anyone with any doubt left how crooked the SEC refs were in that game. He literally said their defensive gameplan was to hold and interfere the whole game...and yet none were called. It’s exactly how bama looked in Knoxville. They were shook and it happened to us this time. Doesn’t make it easier to deal with, but it’s almost identical.
The difference is that in the 2nd half, bama got away with a ton of penalties not being called thst allowed them back in the game. uga never got the called on numerous occasions. That alone would have made it closer an a more level playing field.
I’m hoping that the Tennessee administration sends Kirby’s video bragging about his players continually and purposefully holding and pass interference at coaches direction along with video evidence to support it to the SEC, ncaa and especially the playoff committee. It needs to be very publicly stated that it cannot be allowed to happen in any other games that uga plays…
May not make a difference, but the smug SOB bragging about it should have consequences. JMPOO
Just my pissed off opinion.
If UGA is going to drape themselves all over our guys...them Hendon needs to throw it that direction to force the refs to make the call. Most people don't see what is happening down field.I posted it after the game. Please remember that UGA lost to Bama in the SECCG in Atlanta by 17, giving up 41 points, before winning the natty last year over Bama at the neutral site.
We are likely to have the same type path open to us. The staff has to get our strength playing at a high level again, just like UGA had to with their D. We lost the first game to them because our O was poor. Our D could and should have played much better, but it was enough to win the game.
As high scoring as it has been, our O has not played its best game yet. All of you know it, you have seen the mental errors or lack of execution as well as the wut? play calls at times. These occurred more in the UK game or we would have scored over 60 points. Our scheme and overall execution were enough to win that easily because the D stepped up. But against UGA, it has to be executing at a higher level. We laid an egg in a hostile environment and with the second half rain. It happens.
So, what I want to see is the O tighten up its execution and HH to spread the ball to all of the receivers instead of asking Cedric to make the big play. Bru has been terribly underutilized this season as an example. Jalin is always open, get it to him at the right time. Throw the ball away if receivers are covered and the QB running lane is not there. Keep working on the secondary to make them more cohesive. Keep working for the pocket push and to get off blocks by the D-line. Sit Mitchell and play Beasley most of the snaps at LB. Mitchell playing over him is criminal.
The results for the rest of this great season for Vols everywhere rests on that.
Then we will be ready to whip that Georgia azz when we get that shot at them.
Yeah like them too.You mean like Walter Fisher, Brandon Jeffries, Chris Donald, drew Richmond, or Wanya Morris?
I think he was referring to the bad character 5 star players… which obviously you can’t have in your locker room. But yes looking at the top teams every year without much dropoff despite losing 15 players in the draft like Georgia. You’ve got to recruit ELITE talent every year. It’s a must. Especially in this leagueYeah like them too.
What percentage of 5 star players become high level to elite players?
From the article "Over that period, five-star recruits make up only .7% of the overall recruiting cycle. Yet, 117 five-star recruits have been selected and the draft rate over the past five years is 63%."
What about 4 star players?
"Since the 2017 NFL draft, 468 four-star recruits have been picked or 36.2% of the total — even though they make up only 2.8% of the number of recruits. The draft rate of four-star recruits over the past five years is 22.1%."
What about 3 star players?
"Since 2017, there have been 9,728 three-star recruits and 517 of them have been drafted.
Overall, the data from the past five years reveals that 40% of the players drafted have been three-star recruits coming out of high school. But with the much larger number of three-star recruits in each cycle, the draft rate is only 5.3%."
Stars matter even if you don't like it.

I've been trying to tell everybody. The perception of that game is all wrong, and if you rewatch it all that stuff is very obvious..but...I just watched a video of all the plays on offense against UGA and came away with a few thoughts. Ringo could've been called for targeting on the first play. He stuck his head down and hit Hyatt with the crown of his helmet. The o-line actually did ok (minus the false starts) and the pressure on Hooker often had more to do with him holding the ball a little too long or a RB not maintaining his block long enough. Jaylen Wright had a pretty good game outside of the fumble. UGA's secondary definitely did a lot of holding...but receivers were getting open. Probably the biggest issue on offense, and this is just my opinion, is that Hooker had an off game. He was hesitant to throw the ball and just never seemed settled in. I would expect a lot better play if the rematch happens.
And luckily for Tennessee I think the administration and Heupel understand that. He’ll make whatever changes necessary to put Tennessee at the top competing for championships. And like Pate was referring to if that means letting a few positional coaches go because more accomplished ones are available then that’ll happen. Heupel isn’t “content” he wants to be the best and so does everyone at Tennessee now for the first time in a few decades. And that should be REFRESHING to EVERY vol fanI think he was referring to the bad character 5 star players… which obviously you can’t have in your locker room. Promotion for a former classmate of mine at Tech, Nick Deal. Full time structural engineer with a part time gig as a photographer. Also, probably as big or bigger a UT fan than I am. I wouldn't be surprised if he's on here. Anyway, he took these pictures:
He's got a website in case anyone is interested.
Beautiful shots...I wish I could go back in life, and instead of wasting my twenties on stupid stuff I would take some photography courses and traveled and really got into tbe hobby. I get some great shots, and I know I have a good eye...I see potential shots that most people don't, but I don't know how to use the tools to get potential shots..plus I can't afford them, it is an expensive hobby...lol.Promotion for a former classmate of mine at Tech, Nick Deal.
