Looked at my Facebook timeline this morning. Our 2016 Butch Jones team (with all that talent) was ranked 19 by the playoff committee. I give credit for recruiting (although there were many legacy players) but can you imagine if Hype had that team?

Let’s game this out. Who ya got at each position group?

Dobbs vs Hooker?

Kamara, Hurd, Kelly vs Small, Wright, Sampson?

Malone, JJ, Josh Smith, Marquez Callaway vs Hyatt, Bru, Tillman, Keyton

Wolf, Croom, Jakob Johnson vs Warren, Fant

2016 OL vs 2022 OL?

I'd take every single player on this team over that team..........minus Kamara and JJ

Hooker
Malone, JJ, Smith, Calloway
Kamara,Hurd-- not even close
Warren Fant

2016 RBs all day. 2022 everywhere else.

Hooker > Dobbs but I think the offense would have been equally effective under Dobbs as a more rush-heavy attack. Dobbs would have piled up 1,000+ on the ground every year under Heupel.

If they beat Ga for the SEC title they're in.
No, they're not. And no, they won't.

No way the committee could defend putting a two loss team in who lost ugly at home to a 1-loss UT. Conf champs be damned. You guys seem to think that conf championships are the secret sauce in playoff formula. If that's the case they'd just take the best 4 conf champs and be done.

I just can’t imagine defenses trying stop a rushing attack consisting of Dobbs, Hurd, and Kamara while also having to worry about Heupel scheming Malone, JJ, and Callaway wide open on every play.

Fun convo this morning, guys. Not just 2016, but what if Heupel had the Jones Era (2013-2017) Vols.

First of all, I would LOVE for Willie Martinez to answer this question or play this hypothetical out on one of the Vols podcasts...

Moving on...

Heupel could have had a lot of fun with Von Pearson and Pig Howard. He would have turned Marquez North into a pro. Callaway would have been a beast, Tyler Byrd wouldn't have gotten lost.

He would have had Dobbs in the Heisman conversation like he does with Hooker.

Josh Malone and Preston Williams would have been utilized way more (and more effectively).

Kamara... just thinking about Kamara in this offense with the threat of Dobbs running as well... I weep for the alternate reality where Kamara is the single-season rushing leader

Hurd would have been unreal as well, let's be honest. John Kelly too.

Heupel wins 2 more games per year during the Jones Era, minimum. 10 or 11 regular season wins, minimum, in 2016. We might have scored on every offensive possession in 2016 lol

Been thinking more and more that Mark Stoops is literally just Butch Jones but without having to play the likes of OU and Oregon as his P5 OOC opponent, playing MSU instead of Bama annually, and being slightly luckier/better vs bad Florida teams. Stoops has also had slightly better luck in his rotating SEC West draw. Seemed like Butch always got a West opponent during a peak year while Stoops has gotten a few when they are very down.

I think if they switched jobs in Dec. 2012 the W/L records would be nearly identical.

Is your wife breastfeeding? Sometimes her diet can affect the baby via breast milk. My friend's son was basically a nightmare for her for the first 3 months of his life until she found out he had a milk allergy which was being triggered by her drinking milk/creamer and passing it on to him when breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding you say,

2016 OL vs 2022 OL?

Dobbs has a higher ceiling but Hooker is more consistent and takes care of the ball. I'm going with Hooker.

2016 RB's.

2022 WR's just cause 2016 didn't have a burner like Hyatt. We're a lot deeper right now at WR too.

2022 TE's are more versatile but Wolf was probably the most talented. Croom was a bust and Jakob was just a glorified FB. Still going with 2022.

2022 OL and it's not even close. That 2016 line was pretty bad.

The Hire of Dooley was the beginning of the end..............or the firing of Fulmer.
Phill needed to go, it was clear his run of being a top 10 program was over.
122-31-1 from 1992-2004
29-21 from 2005-2008. Although I appreciate his sustained success and he took the program to another level. The problem was Tennessee had Hamilton making the hires instead of a competent person like Dickey.

teams would be catching their breath chasing down Kamara all game, then you bring in fresh-legs Hurd halfway through the 3rd to close things out. it hurts my soul with all the talent we squandered in 2015 and 2016

2016 RB’s by a mile, 2022 OL by a mile. Everything else is a wash

if he knows what's good for him he'll try to find his way to the Big Ten West. His style, at all levels, belongs there, and would do well there.
