Hate to have to say it, but J Banks was the key to the blitzes. At least that's the way it always seemed to me. Also his lateral pursuit and tackling sideline to sideline. The DBs have not wrapped up all year.

Banks has been cleaning up for our safeties all year.

I was getting hate for Banks and Martinez and their excuse was always he coached Mosley and Sutton. GA celebrated when Martinez was fired ,they hated him and now I know why. Who was our DB under Butch who gave up 2 winning TDs late against the Gators in 2015-17. It was Martinez and in 2016 at Ga before Dobbs hail mary.

Lot of them liked him as DB coach but not DC.

Before this week, what would your answer have been of SC’s chances? Any given Saturday. We beat BAMA afterwards. Were our DB’s shutdown back then?

Before this week I said a long time ago that we could lose a game that mattered because of our secondary or defense and no I did not think it would be SC. Not sure what you are asking but our DBs have sucked all year except 2 games but you still did not answer my question.

no they didnt, I lived down there for 10-11 years and listened to them. They did not like him as a DB coach and it turned to hate when they hired him as their DC.

All I know is our secondary hasn’t been good these last two years. Alontae was just so good that he masked some of its flaws.

We had 2 easy games left against trash teams to insert ourselves among the elites of college football, and blew it in style. 438 yards and 6 TD's for their QB who had 8 in 10 games... This one hurts. Heupel and White have big boy decisions to make.

They are not unbeatable but with our secondary no game was really safe. I said for weeks this team would be really good with just a decent D. I just hope Heup is not one of these coaches that keeps hanging on to other coaches hoping that he gets lucky with them. I thought the Banks hire was bad when he hired him and I knew the Martinez hire was bad. I think we all did.

His absence completely crippled an already poor defense.

If...I have to say that..If...the rumors are true, and I really hope in my heart that they aren't, he completely screwed over his teammates, his coaches, all of VolNation...and his own self.

If true...this is a betrayal based purely on selfish greed and jealousy.

Not to add to the misery, but I just saw that was the most points Tennessee had given up in a game in 129 years. The reason I posted this is; because it really puts in perspective how horrible our defense played tonight. I'm at a loss for words with what was on the line in this game.

I just can't believe it wasn't on purpose for some of the guys.

I feel like someone ripped out my heart, threw it on the ground, stomped on it, spit on it, defecated on it, then picked it back up and shoved it back in my chest.

That really sucked.

Worst Tennessee defense I have ever seen. I honestly thought Sunseri would hold that distinction for all time, but Tim Banks said, "Hold my beer".


General Robert Reese Neyland spun in his grave last night. I am so ashamed.

Honestly if the rumors or true then sure he had a part in things, but more than just Banks not being present happened to have so many kids playing with the effort and care we saw. Maybe that is the thing that caused the rift, but other people came in unprepared to do their jobs to the best of of their abilities. The coaches ultimately failed to get the kids ready. If there are locker room issues impacting how people are preparing and the effort they give then the staff still has to do whatever is necessary to get their players to care about the right things and field a team, not a bunch of individuals.

Georgia fans are going to be unbearable when they win a second consecutive NC. I really hope one of those other teams finds a way to knock them off. I can't believe I'm going to be forced to pull for a Big 10 team. Dammit.
