Admittedly ignorant take here, but it's surprising to me that the U.S. hasn't "accidentally" produced a soccer superstar even with our subpar training, pay, exposure, etc., compared to other sports. Just surprising that an elite athlete hasn't caught the soccer bug at an early age and doggedly stuck with it even though they might have excelled in other, more lucrative sports, too.

Not shocking that we can't field an entire team of studs due to the pull of other sports, but c'mon. We can't have ONE guy? Landon Donovan is the best we've had in decades and from what I understand, he was mediocre at best on a global scale.

We’re raised on hand eye coordination vs foot eye coordination (in all sports and most hobbies) putting us behind the 8 ball. It’s always why we’ve had good goalies.

I’m sorry that makes you mad my friend. But it 1000% happens in college sports. I played college soccer and many of my friends played college football. You ask for it, you’re gonna get it.

I played baseball in college and had many people on all teams I hung out with. The only people who intentionally try to injure someone are the ones who were morans or had no future in the sport. They’ve never been taught the beauty of competition. Such disrespect to the game (and that goes for any game being played).

It’s just straight up bush-league type stuff.

Your friends sound like terrible people. Their coaches sound like idiots if they encouraged it.
