Really? So Grinch went from being a good DC with lesser talent to being bad with better talent?

I think at OSU his lack of success was just the problems associated with kids learning a completely new system talented or not...and the same at Okie.

The defensive roster he has to work with now looks like a bunch of skinny little soft dudes out there getting bulldozed.

I think once he gets better players and then gets a few years for those guys to learn his system that he will miraculously look like a better DC again..

I suggested a couple weeks ago that maybe it needed it’s own thread and the RF football talk forum was probably for football .

No. He's elite, but not once in a generation. His deep ball stats make it look that way because heupel gets wr insanely wide open. Uncontested deep ball completion percentage is higher than contested.

Milton does do that lol. I don't think using a below average deep ball thrower as your baseline is a good evaluation tactic though lol.

I was told no one has failed up like Grinch. He was hated at OSU. Lincoln Riley has kept him around but he Oklahoma had a bad defense under him. He probably got a raise taking that bad defense to USC.

He did well at Washington St but it could have been part luck or part expectations being different.

It was not luck at WSU...those were really good defenses for the talent he had. He may have a problem getting higher rated players motivated to execute better for some reason.

I guess blasting people with a pitch isn’t meant to hurt them? Pretty sure Acuna would disagree. Hitting someone in the back with a pitch isn’t meant to injure them. Hitting them in the head on purpose is. Throwing at their knees is.

- Then they'll talk about how dominant UTs run game usually is but not today because Clemson has a bunch of players that can stop the run.
- then they'll say "I guess Dabo was right"

And then all Volnation will be PISSED ALL OFF-SEASON AND FINALLY REALIZE MILTON IS NOT THE ANSWER.

Admittedly ignorant take here, but it's surprising to me that the U.S. hasn't "accidentally" produced a soccer superstar even with our subpar training, pay, exposure, etc., compared to other sports. Just surprising that an elite athlete hasn't caught the soccer bug at an early age and doggedly stuck with it even though they might have excelled in other, more lucrative sports, too.

Not shocking that we can't field an entire team of studs due to the pull of other sports, but c'mon. We can't have ONE guy? Landon Donovan is the best we've had in decades and from what I understand, he was mediocre at best on a global scale.

European soccer is different…it’s life to them because of how deep the tradition runs..there’s non of that here unless it is in the World Cup….
